Major League Baseball: 2007 Season

I just don’t see how firing Torre makes sense. Regardless of all the times fans, media, and sportstalk radio pundits second guess his in game decisions(and really, does anyone in professional sports not get their fair share of secondguessing) the man is an icon here.

The beat writers love him. The national media loves him. His players love him (aside from Gary Sheffield and Kenny Lofton, and yeah I wont even start on their credibility). And everyone on record who’s associated with the game has the highest respect for him.

The Yankees scored four runs in the first two games. How is that Joes fault?

And regardless of Steinbrenner saying he’s fine mental health-wise, he doesnt have the teeth he used to have. If he did, Joe wouldve been gone after last year.

I’d be ecstatic if the Yanks lost tonight. I just don’t think a guy who has won four World Series and not known a Year without postseason baseball in the Yankee uniform should get fired 'cos of it.

Looks like the Yankees are going down tonight, already down 4-0 in the second.

Lots of game left, but I feel it tonight.

Indians v. Red Sox will be, in effect, the World Series. Rockies and D’backs? Please.

watch out for the rockies, they are 17 of 18, they are en fuego, until they loose a game, they have major momentum

Damn, did this guy have a bad series:

Chien-Ming Wang

0-2 with 12 earned runs, 4 walks & 2 K’s in 5.2 innings for a stanking 19.06 ERA. :o

Boston Red Sox v Cleveland Losers 10/12/07 7:07pm ;D

Should be an awesome series…

I can’t figure out who I am cheering for.

I don’t really have any regional connection to any team left.

Cleveland and Colorado would be an interesting WS.

Thats what im hoping for as well the two CC’s

C.C. Sabbathia I presume.

;D

well that and Colorado vs Clevland of course

If the Rockies win the World Series I will definitely puke.

It does make you kind of wonder why, if they do win, relatively new franchises can win WS titles (Marlins 2x, Diamondbacks 1x) but storied franchises like the Cubs can go 100 years without one.

It’s all about the players, man.

Oh, that and how the stars and moon are aligned every October.

Oh, but you were cool about the Marlins having two titles in 5 years? At least people actually GO to Rockies games…

Personally, I’m not saying you’re like this but I hate when people bitch about teams that aren’t considered mainstream actually making it into the finals of their sports. Aren’t people sick of the Red Sox, Yanks and others being in the damn finals every frickin year? I am. Gimmie some new blood. People who NEED these teams in the finals to be interested in them aren’t really fans of the sport anyway…

Again, I wasn’t saying Hank’s like that but I just had to rant. I can’t help it…

Stevo

Dude, you take sports way too seriously.

OK, that may be the case, but please tell us why you plan on vomiting if the Rockies win the WS!

GO ROCKIES!

Yes, Bill Simmons is a homer, but if you’re a sports fan of any kind (mainly in New England, but whatever), late October/early November could be very exciting.

Simmons writes:

Three weeks from now, there’s a genuine chance that the Red Sox could be playing a deciding World Series game on Oct. 30, Oct. 31 or Nov. 1, followed by Kevin Garnett’s home debut for the Celtics on Nov. 2, followed by a potential bloodbath of the undefeated Colts and Patriots on Nov. 4. If everything plays out that way (and that’s a big “if”), that would have to be the craziest week for a single city in the history of sports, right? How could that ever be topped? A World Series appearance, followed by a famous NBA franchise debuting the Hall of Famer who’s about to make them relevant again, followed by the most anticipated NFL regular-season game in 22 years? And this could all happen in a five- or six-day span?

I didn’t really mean I would puke, its just a way to emphasize how unlikely that seems. Neither the Rockies or the D’backs are nearly as good as any of the A.L. teams that were in the playoffs this year, and it would be lame if a little hot streak from the Rockies gave them a World Series title, from my perspective. But if it happens it happens…I’m not going to lose any sleep over it.

::paints chest in Twins colors::

Fuck the Rockies, hopefully the Dbacks will pull thru tonite, you’ll see, you’ll all see.

::gulps::

I’m with Hank but my reason is they are not the better team… just high on steroids or crack or somethin’.

btw you must’ve noticed how the Red Sox kicked the shit out of Cleveland last night. If the Red Sox play their game and everyone does their job they will win the WS. They are the best team in the league and the best team deserves the win. Not the doped up Rockies.

Where’s all this Rockies/steroids talk coming from, peeps?
