Major League Baseball: 2007 Season

I think the Yanks need to invest in a closer, 'cause they’re pretty week after about 5-6 innnings.

Interesting side note: Clemens seemed to only go about 6 innings in the NL last year. I’m very interested to see how long he lasts against the deeper AL clubs.

::strokes chin speculatively::

hmmmm…

We’ll be alright. Zumaya goin down and Sheffield brekin out could balance itself out. We should bring up that kid we drafted from NC again and see what he’s got! 8 in a row baby is nice. It’s kinda taking the sting out of basketball right about now ya here me see!!

The Mets have won 5 of their last six, and the Yankees come into Shea this weekend. If you don’t live in NY, you could prolly care less. But Mets-Yankees is a BIG sports weekend here. I experienced a Subway Series Game at Shea for the first time last year, and cannot wait to go this Saturday. The energy is unbelievable. I hope we can take at least 2 of three from the SKANKS.

Bump! [color=blue]GO TIGER’S!

Fuck, someone on the radio dial said the Zumaya is out for the rest of the season!

Good think Miller is coming into his own and Bondo is lights out!!!

Bump! GO TIGERS!!!11!!

there are 13 teams with worse records than the Marlins right now!

fuck yeah! That’s almost half the league!

if the Marlins were in the NL Central they’d be in 2nd place.

damn mariners swept the padres…at home…over the weekend. first series they have lost in a long time too. each game was by 1 run but sometimes thats how it goes. still only 1/2 game back of the mets for the best record in the NL. not too shabby.

twas sweet watchin’ the Dbacks waaaste Boston last nite, heh heh!

Holy shit! What a great night! Page brought the good vibes to Detroit and they rubbed off on Justin Verlander!

Justin Verlander threw 100 mph heat, crazy curves and a tantalizing changeup.

No-hit stuff, indeed.

With a big assist from his shortstop, Verlander pitched the first no-hitter in Comerica Park history, leading the Detroit Tigers over the Milwaukee Brewers 4-0 Tuesday night.

“It was the best thing that ever happened to me,” he said.

The 2006 AL Rookie of the Year came back with the game of his career, striking out 12. He benefited from several stellar defensive plays, the best by Neifi Perez, who turned a possible single up the middle in the eighth into an inning-ending double play.

“About the fifth or sixth you can’t help but think about it a little,” Verlander said. “Everyone kept giving me high-fives and nobody came and sat next to me.”

The NL Central-leading Brewers didn’t have a chance against him.

“We only hit four or five balls hard all night … that’s how dominant he was,” said Craig Counsell, twice called out on strikes.

Verlander (7-2) worked around four walks in the Tigers’ first no-hitter since Jack Morris in 1984.

The 24-year-old trotted to the mound for the ninth to a standing ovation from the crowd of 33,555.

My man threw a pitch that read 102 in the 9th inning! :o :o

Going to see Bondo DESTROY the rangers tonight. Can’t wait!!

Then our office is taking a party bus to the game Wednesday to see Kenny Rogers throw the heat. Maybe he’ll bring some of his world famous rotisserie chicken!!

9-0 sounds reel good! Have fun.

4 whole games ahead of last place!

Sooooooooooooooooooo, how about Kason Gabbard?

I despise west coast games. Maybe if I lived there, but blech, just blech.

seems the Twins are going to hover around .500 the whole year

meh.

kinda frustrating. I mean, we have a chance at the wild card I suppose. We could find lightning in a bottle and honor the 20th anniversary of our first World Series Title by winning our third, but its doubtful.

fyp.

Detroit Tigers infielder Neifi Perez was suspended 25 games by Major League Baseball on Friday after it says he tested positive for a banned stimulant.

Perez, has appeared in 33 games this season. He is hitting .172 in 64 at-bats with one home run and six RBIs.

“The Tigers fully support Major League Baseball’s Joint Drug Prevention and Treatment Program,” the team said in a statement.

The 34-year-old seldom-used utility player broke into the major leagues in 1996 with the Colorado Rockies. He also has played for the Kansas City Royals, San Francisco Giants and Chicago Cubs in 12 seasons.

D’OH!!!

good thing we don’t play him ever…

^Are you kidding?

This is the best news ever. Neifi Perez sucks. We picked him up last year when Polanco got hurt and he sucked then and he sucks now and he takes away from playing time that should go to Infante.

Anyway, I’m liking the Tigers right now. The hitting is great and the starting pitching is awesome. The problem has been the bullpen though I think it’s coming around. The biggest problems have been Jason Grilli and Fernando Rodney. Rodney’s on the DL so hopefully he’ll stay there for a while and we’re actually getting more help so we don’t have to play Grilli as much. With Kenny back we sent Durbin to the bullpen and he’s been great. Plus we have Zach Minor off the DL and these new young pitchers in DeLaCruz and Capellan both of whom can throw in the high 90’s. And Todd Jones has had his troubles but I think he’s fine.

GO TIGERS!!

Even better I got Tigers/Yankees tickets for my birthday. I’ve seen lotsa teams but not the Yankees so that should be a treat. Let’s hope they beat the crap out of Clemens.
