Major League Baseball: 2007 Season

what game you going to stevo?

good to see chris young made the final vote for the allstar game. everyone knows about jake peavy. now its time to become familiar with chris young. 2.00 era leads the majors. 99k is prob top 15 too. some run support and he would be sitting at 10-3 not 8-3. but no matter, as soon as the padres bats heat up theyll be tough to beat. damn i love the mlb ticket! the last game before the allstat break is padres/braves on sunday night baseball. aww yeah.

Here Here! i never liked dude either!

P.S. Ken Geiffey Jr, the Tigers are calling!

Pudge just pwned Papelbaum!

^dang… I was watching some of the game tonight… last I saw it was in the 13th. Series wrap up tomorrow.

um, anyone else watching the All Star game??

they just went to commercial with Touch of Grey playing.

I know it’s in San Fran…

COME ON VIOLA LEE!!!

I’m going to the Monday game of that series. I wanna say it’s August 23rd but I’m nit 100% sure. All I know is it’s the last game.

And I watched the All Star Game…I noticed the .0054 seconds of Touch of Grey that they played. How…uh…mainstream of them. But it’s better than nothing. You get what ya pay for.

Not a bad All Star game though. Good drama in the 9th with the AL closers catching fire and running around in circles. This All Star game determining the home field advantage thing has got to go but, oh well. At least the AL won since the Tigers have another shot at it this year (of course we all saw how much it helped the Tigs last year…ug). Cool to see all the Tigers all stars except that none of them did much of anything…even Pudge’s hit was spoiled by A-Rod’s pathetic base-running. Way to plow into that catcher, Alex.

And you really want Griffey on the Tigers? What for? I don’t want to give anything up for him and we’d have to give up something big. He’s great and all but I don’t see the point. The hitting is fine.

Stevo

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) – The Detroit Tigers haven’t forgotten how the Minnesota Twins rallied last summer from a 12-game deficit to overtake them in the division race on the regular season’s final day.

They also remember how they built such a big lead in the first place.

Brandon Inge’s 10th-inning double off Joe Nathan drove in new addition Timo Perez, pushing the Tigers past the Twins 4-3 on Thursday to complete a three-game sweep of the defending AL Central champions.

“We learned a lot last year. We learned from our mistakes and the things we did right,” said Inge, who also had an RBI single in a three-run seventh. “I think we’re more persistent. We’re not going to give up. You can call it being gamers or mental toughness. We’re going to play hard – whether it’s nine innings or 20 innings.”

Placido Polanco and Gary Sheffield drove in runs with back-to-back doubles in the seventh for the Tigers, who have baseball’s best record at 57-36 – and a majors-most 32 wins on the road.

^Well, that was good for your squad, but remember last year for the Central title? And the fact that no one remembers who came in SECOND at the Series?

WoooHooo the tigers will not win the Central…

^Damn, those pesky Blue Jays huh?

^Hell yeah, that was unreal to see Johan get rocked… Credit to them, he is pretty much the best pitcher in all the world…

surely you must be mistaken

and don’t call me surely

I must admit that I’m watching baseball a little more often.

That damn Barry Bonds. I’m indifferent with the whole steroids issue, but him chasing Aaron makes for compelling TV, IMO. I’m especially curious to see how Selig reactions.

Hmmm, wait…

TWO of 'em?

Verlander is good, but not this good…

Do you think Selig, Stern, and Goodell all sit around like in the movie Thank You for Smoking and talk shit about their industries?

cause that would be funny.

I hope David Stern takes a long walk off a short pier.

/hijack of thread

GO TIGERS!!!

^^Yah I know

^I agree with the Stern thought, he is an idiot… .But Selig is close behind…

How is Stern an idiot?

BY BRIAN MAHONEY
NEW YORK – NBA commissioner David Stern reacted harshly five months ago when he was asked about point shaving in the NBA. He can’t dismiss it anymore.

With his league facing the biggest scandal in its history, Stern plans to hold a news conference today. The first question he must answer is what – and when – the league knew about former referee Tim Donaghy’s gambling habits.

Donaghy officiated the last game of his 13-year NBA career during the playoff series between the San Antonio Spurs and Phoenix Suns. Stern surely will be asked whether the league should have known about Donaghy’s problems by then.

The FBI is investigating Donaghy for allegedly betting on games he officiated during the last two seasons. He is expected to turn himself in to the U.S. District Court in Brooklyn later this week or early next week, according to a person familiar with the investigation.

Authorities are looking into whether Donaghy made calls to affect the point spread in games on which he or associates had wagered thousands of dollars during the last two seasons, according to a law-enforcement official. Donaghy had a gambling problem and had been approached by low-level mob associates through an acquaintance, the official said.

Another person with knowledge of the FBI probe told the Associated Press the NBA was unaware of the inquiry until after the Finals, but the Denver Post reported Sunday that the league was made aware of the probe in January.

Those familiar with the investigation and the law-enforcement official spoke on condition of anonymity because they weren’t authorized to discuss the ongoing probe.

During All-Star weekend in Las Vegas, Stern was asked if the fear of point shaving was the reason for his stance against gambling. Stern quickly cut off the questioner and said: ‘‘I am not worried about games being fixed, and I’m surprised you asked the question.’’

I think he knew…

This part gets me for some reason…
