Hope to see some OKP’ers at some of these. Next to Phish, Marco plays my favorite sound right now, and his music is always full of positivity and love.

Marco’s Myspace Page

Wilbert’s is a cool place to see a show in Cleveland. Shall attempt to check this out.

Well, SOMEBODY is finally giving New Orleans some love!

I will probably catch those Hi-Ho Lounge shows. One-Eyed Jack’s and some of those other places will be too crowded.

Heading to Bar 4 Tonight !!!

Pretty stoked!

EDIT: Just found out it’s FREE … donations to artists appreciated …!!!

Last night’s Bar 4 show was pretty Epic …
Started off with Marco (keys), Marc Friedman (bass) with Joey Russo on the drumkit for one crazy fun tune, Twin Killers by Deerhoof.

What can I say, Joey Russo sounds super slick and chuck full o’ surprises. A very full and fun percussion contribution, for sure. Joey Russo joined up for one more tune towards the end of the show, but for the rest of the set it was percussionist du jour Ryan Thorton who was a very solid addition to the Marco-Marc combo.

Amongst the guest-vocalists were bartender Kevin for a couple of tunes (one was a Radiohead cover), and Nicole who also sang a tune. After Nicole’s tune, guest drummer Kevin Kendrick stepped-in to replace Ryan and I was invited on stage by Marco to play bass, as “someone who’s never played bass before.”

Before I knew it, Marc Friedman was offering his bass to me and I was standing on the stage, with Marianne cheering me on. I didn’t even know that I had to ‘turn’ one of the dials to get ‘volume’ on the damn thing; started to strum the strings and was like 'Why is there no sound? ’

LOL. So after I tipped the bass to Marc so he can ‘turn it up,’ I began my stage debut, on bass, with Marco on keys and Kevin guesting on drums. They were both trying to accommodate my ‘exploratory’ scales and dynamic bass-mimicking. Was scared pretty shitless for most of the ~2mins I was playing bass, since I didn’t know what I was doing, at all. At least I looked fab in my ‘Party Shirt,’ complete with infamous night-time ‘smokey eyes.’

Marco was kind enough to ‘acknowledge’ me in the middle of my ‘performance’ by tipping his head my way and nodding … as if I knew what that meant (Was that good? Was that bad?). After my ‘2-minutes of fame’ was up, another audience member who actually can play the bass got up and played a tune with Marco and Kevin.

Amongst all the guest-starring malarchy I got my ‘So What’ song request in, despite the trio playing merely a few bars before sequing quite seamlessly into one of Marco’s regular tunes, Heartbeats by The Knife.

Just found out the show received some press. Go Figure!

And I got to meet yet another fun OKP’er & share in the groove with Miss Marianne of Bushwick! Such fun times. My first girly OKP’er too! Go Girl Power!

Needless to say that despite the ‘stage fright’ from ‘playing bass’ last night I felt that ‘Post Show Euphoria’ come morning, and boy, it sure feels good!

grinning from ear to ear

Not sure whay is hawtter here, the smokey eyes or you slapping the bass…

Both rule though, nice work Pei!!!

Here are some photos I took with my phone-camera:

^Nice work Pei… I wanna see you pick the bass, lets find that photo out there…!

Nice! Firehouse 13 is 1 mile from my apt and seems like a cool place.

Updated first post with 2 additional FREE Monday shows in April at Bar 4, and maybe a few others!!

Go check out Marco’s sound if you haven’t; he’s super swell and really fun to listen to!

ZOMG Just found out that currently Marco’s Trio tour is with Andrew Barr (drumset) and Marcus Friedman (bass), both of The Slip, until Sat, then back to Andrew and Reed Mathis for the rest of the CD Tour. This is my dream combo for Marco as both Andrew and Marc sound so ultra-fab.

And I can’t make it for ‘le fab’ trio this weekend as I have a friend’s b-day party to go to. T_T

If you can make the following shows I highly recommend it. You will NOT be dissapointed!!

May 7
Main Pub
Manchester, CT

May 8
RISD Auditorium
Providence, RI
4pm, Outdoors

May 9
Nectar’s
Burlington VT

I love me some Reed Mathis.

He’s one of the better young bass players around.
Think I’ll hit up the show on the 14th here in Chicago.

i will be @ the july 9 show in philly

^^14th at Martyrs for sure!!! Hope to see ya there!

Nice fellas!

I’ve decided to go to the CT show tonight !!! Found out it’s a late one, start time around 10pm-11pm ish!!

It’s ~3hrs away so if I leave ~7:30pm I’ll miss all the traffic and still make it!

Hells YEA!!!

Really want to go to the Vt show, saw him fall 08 with mathis and fish and it was definitely a good time. Only problem is my last final is that next morning.

So glad I went to catch the Marco-Andrew-Marc combo last night at the Main Pub in Manchester, CT. The space was nice and chill, just like its crowd, and the musical quality, of course, was high. Lots of rhythmic groove amidst kind and loving melodies, exactly what I expected from this trio.

A few new tunes from the new album was played, as well as a nice mix of the regular tunes. In all there were 2 sets of musical goodness, and there were 2 tapers! Gonna try and B&P for a copy of this one, for sure.

Some pics from my phone:

Played pinball & arcade games for a bit after the show; didn’t get home til about 6:30am or so >.< Had some crazy dreams for a couple hours and am up again. Man, I sure wish I can hit RISD today or Burlington tomorrow; what a night!

You gonna be there tomorrow Matt?
Let me know. First beer is on you!

o.O

Hope you guys make it … I know the music will be awesome!!
