I have noticed a travesty in my Phish collection. As a relatively new fan I only have about 15 or so shows so far and I’ve noticed I only have ONE version of Maze (and it’s not even that good compared to others that I’ve heard but don’t own).
This is a travesty that cannot go on, so if anyone has any recommended versions let me know and I’ll be downloading them tonight.
Any Maze is a good Maze. Never heard a botched version! Or a boring one…
May I recommend the myriad of MAZE’s from 1993-1995. All good stuff…

as far as post-hiatus goes, both the gorge and worcester mazes are great
agreed vern. early mazes are great. i like 94 mazes. but i like most 94. 6-11-94 red rocks, 6-18-94 uic, etc.
As usual 94’ comes popping up. Rightfully so too. Great year. Check out the maze on Bittersweet in the spec. features. I’ve never thought of “best” versions of Maze. I know this one is pretty good. I think it’s 12-11-97. Could be wrong though.
Vegas '00 is a snooze fest IMO. I feel like they’re going through the motions and trying to play a “typical” Maze.

I thought so. Ahh man, it makes me think of my blotched copy of 12-13-97. Got it in a trade a while back and suckers left off the weekapaug. I can only imagine it’s bad ass. Sorry for getting off topic.

currently listening to the maze from 11-19-92, and i am loving it.
2.26.03 worcester maze is the GREATEST maze of all time. seriously, so fucking dark and evil and twisting.
I came into this thread specifically to recomend that gorge maze from 7/12/03. That was my first show too!
I’m listening to the 7/16/94 Maze as we speak. This show is known for the crazy Antelope>Catapult>Antelope>Harpua>2001>Harpua but a very very solid Maze in set 1.
bittersweet is really good…97’ all together is a good year for a nice maze or ghost
I’m partial to the 9/18/00 Maze from Cuyahoga, OH. It’s hard to describe but it seems to go further than the standard maze. Actually the whole show is great…got a nice 20-25 minute or so Halley’s to end the 2nd set. I saw it all live. Woot!
