OK, I’ll admit.
I laughed out loud on this one.
Briefly, mind you.
I always hated Timmy because he replaced Jeff on Lassie. They kicked Tommy Rettig off the show because he was getting too old and brought in cute adorable candyass little Timmy.
Tommy Rettig was way cooler, and much more of an interesting person than Jon Provost. Rettig was hanging with the Beach Boys and the Beatles during their drug eatin days in southern CA, and made quite a reputation for himself and fell out of grace with the entertainment industry.
But after kicking around in odd jobs to support his family, he got into computer programming and became one of the foremost developers of PC based database applications like dBase II and III and FoxPro.
Provost became a real estate salesman after he got no more work after Lassie, but nonetheless got a star on the Hollywood walk of fame. That star belongs to Rettig to be sure.
::wonders whether fone’s extensive knowledge of a boy actor on lassie is nestalgic or creepy::
If I could speak for him, I’d say the nostalgia is creepy.
Besides, I cut my teeth in the computer business learning dBase II, and had incredible awe for the guy who turned his life around so incredibly. Rettig is probably one of my few life idols. And like so many of them, he died at a fairly early age.
