Phish will celebrate New Year’s Eve at AmericanAirlines Arena in Miami, FL. The December 31 show will be the first of a four-night stand in Miami that will run through Saturday, January 3. This will be the first time Phish has returned to sunny Florida since their multi-night celebrations in 2003 and 2009.
Fans can purchase a four-day pass or tickets for individual nights. An online ticket request period is currently underway at tickets.phish.com/ and will end Sunday, September 28 at 11:59PM Eastern Time. Tickets will go on sale to the general public beginning Saturday, October 4, at 10:00 AM ET. For complete ticketing details, visit Phish.com.
Wow, last New Year’s in Miami, I thought I’d parlay it with visiting my brother in Florida. He didn’t want to go. Maybe I’ll have better luck this time.
I tend to say fuck it to the shows that are impossible to get into/pay for. It’s too much stress. I’ve put too much effort and worry into Vegas that I’m happy to go see 4 nights in a tropical area on the ocean. I’m trading my 3 day holiday show for a four day, hopefully better holiday show. I’m afraid that Phish Halloween has lost it’s draw for me without a cover album. Especially when I can’t get tickets before I purchase plane tickets and hotels. I can’t gamble for shit anyway, so yeah…fuck Vegas!!
Got a buddy who lives in orlando, stay with him for a few days then drive down together for the weekend shows.
I have a hotel booked. About 6 mi away towards the.airport, but also looking at a hotel off brickel juust south of the venue. Was wondering about transportation, guessing cab is the way to go, don’t know about any other means of good transport. I realize cab fare from airport will be about 20-30 a trip which is fine, but i’m wondering how it is getting to the venue from that direction. Any recommendations?
Miami is a bizarre city inasmuch as it is laid out in patches of super fancy and super dangerous throughout the city. The arena is right downtown on the bay, basically in the financial/tourist district. Between there and the airport are probably some sketchy areas even though it is just a few miles.
There is a monorail called MetroMover/MetroRail that goes somewhere near the arena (I remember one of the stops being right in front of the old arena which is just a couple blocks away). I’m not sure how late that runs though but it might be your best bet. I’m sure it goes over by the airport.
The first Miami run we found a hotel about a mile from the venue which was unusually cheap for that location NYE week, but they were about to knock it down so it was only $99/night. I wouldn’t expect to find anything like that. The 2009 run we just stayed at home in Ft Lauderdale and commuted every night. We are scouting out options again this year. Basically our whole core crew has moved away in the past year or two (though I only went to college upstate so I will be back home on break at that time anyway), so it is a little different this time.
Sorry for the digression. I tried to answer your question somewhere in there. Not sure if there are any other South Floridians on this board so I may have to be the sherpa here.
Anyone put in for lottery?? I Put in for Sat night, GA Only Figure I’d try my luck. I have a feeling The lotto may actually be good to people, since the shows, besides NYE are not in very high demand and most will wait to get their tickets. I plan on just grabbing a Friday night ticket somewhere here down the road.
