The ending to Bowie is my favorite part, and I love it so.
But I have to go with theSLOTH here.
It really took me a while to get into “Bowie” once I started listening to Phish.
Like, a couple of years. When I first started I’d skip it.
But now, I appreciate it more and more.
this is the hardest for me so far…shit i still dont know.
im not voting yet!
I went Bowie.
Sloth’s good, but…
I agree on the having to let Bowie grow on you. It was a meh ‘monster’ song for a while, but I certainly came to appreciate the beauty that it could be. I remember being on the lawn 7-12-99 and being in this great out there build up being created and my friend turning to me and saying, “It’s still coming.” And as Will noted so, that wonderful ending provides that great tension release dynamic and you reach bliss. [/gush]
A bowie can totally make a show. There are very few Sloth’s that do that. It’s got it all, complexity, jamming and and complete type 2 spontanity. Few songs can claim that.
No wonder neck and will can hold hands, they’re both kind of warped in the same way.
Sloth over Bowie? No way.
Love me a good Bowie! Tension/release- tension/release-tension/release!
Bowie. The lyrics of David Bowie are freakin’ genius. I know that’s not a unanimous sentiment, go ahead with your incredulous facial expressions if you must.
Also, David Bowie has some great playing written into it … the main riffs are so cool, and the compositional sections are nice & thick.
Love the Sloth though, I would have loved to choose it over something else!
Rip Van Winklin’ all the way
It also took me quite a while to truly appreciate Bowie. Maze was the same way. Ah well.
i’ll take an evil bowie any day.
::hi-hat begins::
Way down in the ghetto!
