Am I gonna pop this threads cherry? Well alrighty then…
Neither one is my absolute favorite but if forced to choose I’d have to go with Weekapaug, only because you know that you’re getting two bad ass songs for the price of one guarenteed, pretty much. Mikes AND Weekapaug… I like a good mikes better that a paug, but how can you turn down 2 for the price of one?
although, I must add… the curtain, after seeign that ONE time at coventry that page lost all his shit - that ONE time, I’d say that song outshone any Mike’s/Paug they coulda done on any night.
I hope people realize that this is “The Curtain” and NOT “The Curtain (With).”

Weekapaug could be my favorite song. I’d love to see it make it all the way.
^Know where you’re coming from in some respects. Weekapaug is kind of simplistic, and in later years, kind of average in the way it was played.
That being said, some of the earlier Paugs are just too unbelievable to not recognize over a song like Curtain. When the boys were younger, looser and crazier in their approach to certains songs, Weekapaug was one of their best vehicles.
With or without, the Curtain is one of their songs that just strikes a chord with me. It’s one of my favorites. Although I agree with Moma, who could beat a 2-for-1, Paug never really did that much for me. Not a bathroom break by any means, but just never “made” a show for me.
curtain with/without/beef, doesnt matter. paug never really changed its focus over the years and became very redundant.

My first impulse was Weekapaug but on second thought…its gotta be Curtain. Probably my favorite Phish line to sing: “As he saw his life run away from him, thousands ran along, chanting words from a song” and, “came from the, came from the, came from the…BABIES MOUUUUUUTHTTHTHTHTHTHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, we follow the lines GOING SOUTH!!” may be the coolest thing ever.

Curtain. I think I’m gonna pick the composition over the jam vehicle every time. I mean, yeah Phish was a “jamband” but gimme the complexity of Junta or Rift over the jams of Hoist or Farmhouse most any day.

I just meant the overall feel of the albums mentioned…not when they were written, as in compositions versus the jammers and the fact that I personally prefer the comps.
