Vote!
Theme.
Only because Slave shouldn’t even be here.
Harpua WAS ROBBED!
^I think Harpua should have gotten a higher seed, but disagree that it should be in the second round over Slave.
Slave to the Traffic light, for me, is one of my favorite live tunes to watch the band play… That Four chord major Key jam that just pulsates so smoothly until you’re engulfed by a wall of sound of epic proportions gets me every time.
Slave probably isnt going to get out of this bracket. But its going to be hard for me to vote against it.
I’ll take theme for the huge long build up to the acapella section. I have a very fond memory of the album version of that song from one of my very first mushroom trips.
Slave. No hesitation.
^
Same here.
I’ll admit that maybe “Harpua” should have gotten higher than a #14 in the first round. But between the 2, “Slave” is better IMO. I’d like to see “Slave” go far. Far far away.
Felt like I betrayed a classic Phish favorite, but I went with Theme because all things being equal for me when I hear there two songs, Theme is just a better song overall.
There are versions of Slave that do not even crack the top 50 ever but still rule over any Theme!
I love Theme and am pissed off that Slave is here over Harpua, but I would have voted Harpua over Theme and I’ll still vote Slave over Theme. Slave has a beautiful jam and a cool opening, and really…I can’t think of what else. Maybe I should have voted Theme, but I just went with the gut. The gut is never wrong.
Theme is the shit. I was never really impressed by Slave. Another one of those bathroom songs for me.
well, since i’m basically the one that put Slave to the Traffic Light here, even if i have a soft spot for Theme From the Bottom, i can’t abandon the song that put out Harpua.
that being said, i love the minimal piano melody throughout much of Theme, love the fuzzy epic guitar chords in the jam, and the lyrics are brilliant.
Slave doesn’t have any of those things… but what it does have is that part… the part where the composed section ends and just before the jam begins, where everyone stops playing for a couple seconds and there’s this amazing ambient hiss/hum/ring…
yeah.
I’m going w/Slave, since I never really liked Theme From The Bottom.
The whole Billy Breathes album was the first time I thought to myself, “they’re finally out of gas … and Luke’s father is truly dead.”
what the?
Are we listening to the same band?
btw no offense… Its interesting to see how different our opinions can be.
SLAAAAAAAAAAAAAAVVVVEEEE!!!
Slave all the way!
slave. no doubt. epic song.
This is turning out nicely.
gasp :-X
I know, huh?
Billy Breathes is my brother’s favorite Phish album. I just don’t see it; sorry!
