Mike fall tour

Me too, buddy!!!

Just got back from the Gordo show about a half an hour ago. Great time. This band far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend checking them out if they are close to you. Their killing it.

Show didnt’ start till after 9 although it was billed at 8. We got a two set show. The first set started with Dig Further Down. We actually got a Dig Further Down sandwich…as the first set ended up going back into Dig Futher Down! I remember Morphing In being pretty solid and Voices was spectacular. It was the keyboardists birthday tonight so Mike explained that they are going to play the world’s most famous song. This was before it was annouced that it was Todd’s B-day. So anyway Mike said he had to go get his second favorite gadget from the back. He proceeds to come out with a B-Day Cake and everyone sings. Pretty cool moment. By the way the keyboardist was excellent.

Second set was super long. Opened with Traveled too Far and then they brought out a specail guest, Stephanie Kinchlow, to sing a number. She sang I want to Hold Your Hand (Beatles). Interesting take on the song. I really enjoyed it. We also got Sugar Shack, Meat and Ain’t Love Funny all back to back in the second set. Gordon then told the audience that Tessa, his daughter, just too her first steps today. Although he wasn’t there, but supposedly she took 14 steps. Anyways Gordo then dedicated the next song to his daughter, 15 Steps…the Radiohead song they’ve been covering. Also got a Suskind Hotel late in the second set.

They encored with Things that Make you Go Hmm, which was really cool. Really fun time tonight!

I stayed a bit after and shook Mike’s hand at the Merch table. Told him thanks for coming to Indy. I then proceeded to get Inside In signed right on the front by Mike. Really good time.

There was also a taper there! I talked to him and he said he was going to post it on etree so I’m pumped for that. Well like I said check him out if he’s close. Good times will be had!

^ Sweet writeup man, thanks for posting. I’m really stoked to see them on Tuesday :sunglasses:

^^ Sounds like a good time. Thanks for the review.

Is anybody going to the show tonight here in Chi-town?

Let me know. I’ll B there.

Mike’s show here in Chicago on Friday was great.
Ivan Neville sat in for a couple songs in the second set and the encore as well.
Some funky shit for sure. Played a great version of Sugar Shack to open the second set.

Mike’s band are firing on all cylinders. Jamming out songs, Mike looks like he is having a blast too.
Catch them if you can.

Soulfood Man… I knew I should have went to the Cinci show.

^shame on you

it does seem the setlists are varying a lot more this tour than last late summer/early fall tour

I got my Soulfood Man at Omaha last year

From my experience seeing this group twice last Summer (All Good & Cleveland), the Inside In band is more my style. Steel guitar, tap dancing rhythm, just pure awesomeness.

She Said, She Said was a fun cover though.

There should be a * for both encores as well.
Ivan came back out for those.

This show was hot. The Soulfood Man, Dig Further Down to finish the 1st set was great.
And the 2nd was funky as hell with Ivan.

anyone have the setlist from Ann Arbor’s show on 9/29?

^ For whatever reason its not up on Gordo’s “From the Road” section??

going tonight… gordo in Toronto Canada… can’t get any better then that…

^noice, have fun buddy

I just decided I’m going to Buffalo tomorrow.

Show was sweeeet. Really fast Cities, I liked. Beltless Buckler, When the Cactus Are in Bloom, Meat, Takin’ It To the Streets. Great show all around. Jacob Fred Jazz Odyssey was cool. Their drummer and bassist are great.

Tried to track you down based on your OKP pics but no luck. Show was great though. Cities was pretty badass - seemed like a cross between the original and a version claypool would do. Beltless, Couch Lady, Meat>Time for Loving. I was definitely impressed by Murouski, the keyboard player seemed a little showy, but good none the less. Glad you convinced me to hit the show Will.

I thought that was a pretty great spot to see a show too.
