I’m kind of glad they never publically endorsed smoking herbs. If the did that people would have a much worse stereotype of phans. Although, I guess they already think that we are all stoners.

I’m Taking A Year On

I’d like to first thank those of you who have read every journal entry I’ve put in here–I know it’s a lot to keep up with. This entry is called “Carve.” What have you carved lately? I managed to carve a lot out of my life. I carved out bands, gigs, travel, my obsession with organization - just for 2007. I knew I wanted to jump in my studio and write music when Phish ended, but fun stuff kept coming up - my album and some touring with Leo in ‘05, touring with a few different bands last year. I’ve been loving these experiences. But I’ve carved it all away for the time being. What’s left? Me in my little studio. And it’s a big challenge. I’ve got visions of soaring through outer space with a band some day, but in the meantime I’m living my days one note at a time, one syllable of lyric a day. I have no idea what it will all amount to, though I’ve got abstract visions about the process and about the outcome. So far so good. In the meantime, I’m getting inspiration from many artforms - David Lynch’s Inland Empire (film), Anne Michael’s Fugitive Pieces (book), Chris Thile and McCoy Tyner (concerts), Etc. (an abbreviation). I’ve also been trying to keep up with the hotline, and I’m posting every journal entry right here. If you’d like to drop me a “telepathy,” click on the upcoming X. Oh–one more thing: we’re trying to add some more this’s and thats to the website, and some of them might be buried within the parts of the site - but the goods are bein’ delivered. X.
