thanks for responding. we’ve done some organizing on our end and worked out the logistics for a “paced” match, so that mike could make moves at his leisure, and it wouldn’t interupt any recording/touring he has going on. it would also enable us to get the whole community involved in the match, rather than a select few that might play a “real time” game. here’s a letter for mike that we put together to explain the breakdown. let me know what you guys think.

hope all is well. everyone at the oh kee pa is really excited about the chess match. over the past couple months we’ve had a tournament to discover the talent on the board, and prep ourselves for the big showdown. we’ll be using a series of polls to direct our moves, so that the whole community can be involved in the game. we’ve worked through all the logistics, and it should be pretty easy from your end.
here’s the breakdown:
- we would like to challenge you to two matches (one as white; one as black)
- the games will take place at gameknot.com
- the time limit for each move will be seven days
(the time limit can be set anywhere from 3 - 14 days… if you need it to be set at a longer pace just let us know) - within that span you may move as frequently as you like; ‘oh kee pa’ moves will take approximately 3 - 5 days (to account for voting)
- should something come up, the site will let you postpone the game for up two weeks
your next steps:
- set up an account on gameknot.com
- send an email to this address with your screen name, and let us know you are ready to go.
as soon as you are set up, we will send a challenge to your gameknot account. if you have any problems just drop us an email and we’ll work it out. to avoid a massive influx of messages to your accounts we’re going to keep your (email and gameknot) screen-names hidden from the images that are posted to the message board.
