Actually yes but that doesn’t excuse my poor writing. . .that would be because I is an engineer.
OK the 2nd one is rough, but the first was typed quickly and edited from an e-mail story to protect the innocent (AKA not to put my wife and kids name in the post)
It’s mostly laziness in chat rooms that is the cause of my bad writing (thank god for spell check or you’d think i was learning challenged). Typing as you would speak does not translate well. Plus I do it at work, between 4 other tasks and you’ve read the recently studies on multitasking right. . . humans in general don’t do it very well.
I know I haven’t posted here for a few months (chalk it up to having nothing to say after missing Trey), but I saw Mike last night at the Ram’s Head, and I feel compelled to start posting again.
It was better than everything. It was better than anything I’ve heard solo Trey do, and it was better than a LOT of Phish. It was unreal. Everything they played has evolved into something far beyond what we hear on the studio albums; even Sugar Shack must have at least doubled in length, and not just because of a jam but because Mike actually added more structured parts to it. Scott was ON FIRE during the whole set.
^ QFT. The version of Sugar Shack I heard on Saturday at New Haven was so much richer and fuller than I though possible … it’s the way Mike meant for it to be played … and yes, Scott Murawski ruxors!
i really wanna go to charlottesville tonight. i have a ups package i have to sign for coming today and it’s something i need for work. they said it would be here sometime before 7PM. it takes me about 5 hours to get to c-ville so if it gets here in time for me to make it i’m gonna go.
Man, the show was good. Again the Jefferson Theater in Cville is great. This show was nowhere near sold out. Maybe 300-400 people there, maybe.
Mike mentioned that it was the ‘birthday’ of this band, and at the start of the second set we all sang happy birthday to them, which they seemed to enjoy.
A couple of times Mike was playing around with a weird little handheld mixer box, and at one point said we were going to have an exercise in trust and he passed it into the crowd for people to toy around with.
At the end I met Mike at the merch table and attempted to find out about summer tour, and if they’d be playing VA…but he was non-committal about the whole thing.
And sorry, Pei, I didn’t mention that you’d be bringing a bobble-head for him to sign tonight…but I’m certain he’ll be happy to sign it.
Woot leaving in t-minus 1 hour! Can’t wait to catch this show tonight. I should be at the bar across from the TLA for a good while getting my drink on before the show
