well, i guess we still got 161 games left to bounce back from that one.
come on Marlins!
Sox 1-0
Good times Sunday night ![]()
Well, that was a great opening day! 16-5!? Really!?!
I guess I can settle for 161-1. ![]()
Gotta love the Kansas City bullpen…Greinke is smoking the Tigers to 2-runs and the second he leaves, the KC bullpen blows up and gives up 6 runs in the 7th. Some things never change. Johnny Damon looking good.
the reds had a chance yesterday until they gave up a grand slam in the top of the 9th. increasingly, i equate baseball season with disappointment.
They have a great ball park there in KC, thats about it… ![]()
Yanks 2 -1
Sox 1- 2

Yeah, back when I was a kid, I loved KC as my “2nd team”. They had that awesome waterfall in the outfield, slick uniforms, and George Brett was my favorite player when growing up. It’s amazing how that franchise has fallen. They had like 30K for opening day and then 10K for the next two games…there was barely anyone in the stands.
Amazingly Dontrelle Willis survived his first start. Of course it was against KC. And Miguel Cabrera’s lighting it up already. He had a two-out, 9th inning HR off Soria on Wednesday to send it to extra innings and then gave the Tigs the lead yesterday with a 7th-inning 3-run homer.
Of course, it’s also sad seeing Placido Polanco hitting something like .500 for the Phils and Granderson getting game-winning hits for the Yanks already. Yes, Granderson’s hitting woes will eventually drive Yankee fans nuts but he’s SUCH a great media guy and you can see the Yankee fans already starting to love him. Sigh…
And it’s OPENING DAY for the Tigers today and of course it’s like 45 degrees out. Even funnier, it was in the 70’s last week. Never fails.

Wow, thank you Jhonny Peralta. Tigers are down 2-0 in the 6th, they load the bases and then score a run but are at two outs. Peralta fields a ball and totally blows the throw to first which CLEARS the bases. That’s right…a three-run error. Tigers were up 4-2 and never looked back and won it 5-2. Hilarious. We’re 3-1 and have had late-inning comebacks in all three wins.
Cleveland ‘COULD’ finish behind KC this year if they do not play to their potential…
Man, I love the KC bullpen. Brian Bannister starts for them today and he’s always had my Tigers’ number for some reason. Anyway, he had three hits, one walk and hadn’t had two runners on base all day. So it’s 5-0 Royals in the 7th, he gives up his 2nd walk and then a long double that scores Brandon Inge. It’s now 5-1, and in one of my favorite manager panic moves, he’s immediately yanked. Never mind that he’s been unstoppable for most of the day and has a good pitch count…he gave up ONE RUN! Oh no!! Better go get him!
And of course, the KC bullpen has it’s usual collapse and two more doubles to score two more, then three walks in a row which scores one more and then another double to score two more and the Tigers lead 6-5 right now. You can’t tell me that had Bannister stayed in, he would have given up 5 more runs. In fact, the way he was going, I’ll bet he could have pitched a complete game and still wouldn’t have given up that many. Manager panic moves crack me up every time. If there are any Royals fans left who haven’t quit on this team by now then they should be livid.
I have said it for years and will again, losing starts at the top! Every MLB team has talent, it is just how you manage and train the talent… Look at some of the names the Royals have had and they still lose, isn’t it odd? Yet those players come and go and win in other areas…
Talent is there but is the mindset and coaching? ![]()
Yeah, I seriously wonder how some of these guys become managers. Are they seeing the same game we are? His bullpen has failed practically every time and he has a pitcher with a low pitch count. This isn’t rocket science. But hey…the Tigers are getting potential wins from it so I’m all for it.
See us Twinkie fans, need those Royals to take a few from your Tigers! ![]()
