Rumor has it. But I haven’t seen anything that resembles a team this year…
there was genuine panic in red sox nation during the month of april… but they have come around nicely… the pitching has stepped up… lester, bucholz (sp?), bard are mowing them down… ortiz, martinez have been on fire… and ellsbury isn’t even in the line up yet. the al east could be alot of fun come september…

There might be panic in Twins town here if Mauer doesn’t start coming 'round…
Man tough stretch for the kid right now!
Span hitting a bad stretch too, 2 for 30 or so on the road, diseased!
^whats it going to come down to in the central… detroit v twins for first this year? in anycase I can’t see someone from the east not going to the WS… rays, sox and yanks are so strong… I wonder if the jays can keep it up all season… they’re right in there too…

Prolly, an East coast team in the WS for sure!
The Twins can win the division if they get and stay healthy… If…
Oh, and the pitcher/bullpen issues need to be addressed too!
Great,…All Star week here we come. ![]()
I really don’t like how baseball does its all star week.
This is really cool news for Steve Goodman fans & the Cubs.
Hey, we need as much good news as we can get!
Senate OKs ‘Go, Cubs, Go’ musician post office
Associated PressA post office in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood is one step closer to being named after the man who wrote the song “Go, Cubs, Go.”
The U.S. Senate voted Wednesday to name the post office near Wrigley Field after musician Steve Goodman. U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley sponsored the resolution to rename the post office the “Steve Goodman Post Office Building.” President Obama must now sign the resolution.
Goodman was a Chicago native, folk singer and Grammy winner. He died in 1984 at age 36.
He also penned “A Dying Cub Fan’s Last Request.”Quigley said in a statement that Goodman’s “short but tremendous life reminds us how one person can impact so many others.” The congressman says “Goodman’s contributions reach far beyond the ivy-covered walls of Wrigley.”
Ummm, Errr, yeeahh… go twins? ![]()
Stupid Tigers
Yeah, it is feast or famine for my squad lately…
We so badly need a pitcher…
^The Cubs are gonna be getting rid of some.
Tell your team to take ours and give us some of your prospects.
pinch hit, walk off homer!

Been hearing Ted Lilly in these parts, but man the Twins prospects are minimal nowadays… Let’s face it the Yanks will win it all again anyhow, right?
Well, with Petite going down for at least a month, looks like ol’ man Lilly will be shipping off to the Bronx. Sure, we’ll get some “prospects”, or as I like to call them, “guys who won’t amount to shit”. But the Yankees, again, don’t rebuild, they just reload. Petite goes down, so they bring in Lilly. Not too big of a drop off if you ask me.
But it’s all good. He’s a free agent at the end of the year, so go off to NY, win your championship, get your ring, and then come back to Chicago next year and settle back into mediocrity. ![]()
I will miss Teddy…who knows, if we can sweep the rest of this homestand, I think that is our only chance of keeping him. Why not just sign him to an extension!!! WTF Hendry? ![]()
I’m banking on Piniella’s announced retirement to motivate us into the playoff’s. Chances of that happening are probably around 0 percent, but one can hope…
^That’s what we’ve been doing for about 102 years or so! Why stop now! ![]()
Carl Crawford’s Injury on Fluke Play Is Man’s Worst Nightmare

BALTIMORE – Rays left fielder Carl Crawford was knocked out of Tuesday night’s 11-10 13-inning loss to the Orioles in the first inning when an errant pickoff throw to first base from Baltimore right-hander Jake Arrieta struck Crawford in an – ahem – sensitive area near the groin.
Tampa Bay called Crawford’s injury a “testicular contusion.” The outfielder was transported, via ambulance, to the University of Maryland Medical Center where a series of tests showed no serious damage.
The team is listing him as day-to-day, though both Crawford and Rays manager Joe Maddon indicated that it was likely the outfielder would be out of the lineup Wednesday in the series finale against Baltimore…
“[Arrieta] caught me square,” Crawford said after walking gingerly through the Rays clubhouse following the defeat. “He couldn’t have hit it in a better spot. It just took the wind right out of me.”
Crawford, who was tagged out on the play by Orioles first baseman Ty Wigginton, writhed on the ground in pain for several minutes after he was struck by the ball. Maddon and the team’s training staff attended to him and he eventually left the field under his own power, though in great pain.
Matt Joyce replaced Crawford in left field, while shortstop Jason Bartlett took his place in the order after the injury.
“[Carl’s] as good as can be expected. All of us males can understand that,” Maddon said.
Crawford said he was not wearing a protective cup on the play and that he hardly ever has.
“I make too many different kind of moves to wear one,” he explained. Crawford is, of course, one of baseball’s true speedsters, and he prefers the extra mobility not wearing a protective cup provides. He has 33 stolen bases this year, and, other than an injury-marred 2008, he’s notched 46 or more steals in every season since 2003.
Despite the painful blow, Crawford said he has no intention to start wearing a cup.
“That won’t happen again,” he said, referring to the fluke nature of the play. “I’m still not gonna wear a cup.”
His optimism doesn’t figure to lessen the pain of the blow in the meantime.
“When I played football [in high school], I got hit hard,” Crawford said, “but I never felt anything like that.”

You get the family jewels broken and you still are not gonna protect them!?
Wearing a cup is like the first thing you learn when you play baseball & football in little league.
For this exact reason. He’s lucky he didn’t do more damage.
If he gets hit in the nuts again I will have no sympathy for him.
