MLB 2010 thread

Yeah look at Tim Hudson this year. This is two years removed from Tommy John Surgery.

Same with Francisco Liriano. He is two years removed from Tommy John Surgery as well.

Sports medicine is crazy good and effective now, but I also agree that it’s never a “good” thing to go under the knife. We will have to wait and see, but I’m not ready to call Strasburg a bust yet.

interesting trvia: Tommy John was a coach on a rival team in my Little League.

Man, the Nats blew it with Strasburg. It was ridiculous to even bring him up in his first season in any MLB leagues but I understood it because the fans wanted to see him and the team was still in the running at the time. But the SECOND he got ANY type of injury, he should have been shut down and sent to the minors for the rest of the year. What was the point of bringing him back from the first injury when the team was like 15 games below .500? Rick Porcello was considered to have been called up “early” for the Tigers and even he still stayed a full year in the minors before it happened.

And wow…the Tigers lost 3-2 to Toronto yesterday and went 1 for 16 with runners in scoring position. Holy crap, what a frustrating game. I can’t wait for real football to start.

aaannnnnnd here’s the Marlins right on time with a little hot streak toward the end of the season to bookend a promising start to the season.

now if we could just find a way to avoid the mid-season meltdowns and summertime managerial changes maybe we could see a playoff appearance more often than once a decade.

^ At least your team that was formed in what 1993 has 2 World Series trophies already. My Cubbies are certainly jealous of that fact.

yeah, thanks for that, Cubs.

^Brady, i almost forgot about that…wait a minute, I will never forget that!

the good thing to remember about that (other than the fact that the left-fielder getting robbed had already gotten a World Series ring with the Marlins) is that the fan isn’t what killed it for the Cubs…

…it was the 3 runs they gave up on the following play.

…and the Game 7 they blew the following night.

you know, this really has made me feel better about the Marlins. Thanks, Cubs fans!

You’re welcome!

Please, come on in and enjoy the fruits of success. Just remember to wipe your feet on us before entering the party that is a World Championship!

Thanks,
Cubs management

It’s getting down to the wire.

Al East
Al Central
NL East

All still up for grabs.

October is right around the corner.

AL Central maybe not. The Tigers just beat the Sox three in a row and the Twins just won’t stop winning. It’s nice to see the Tigers win games but I’d rather the Sox win the division. Sorry Sox.

Yeah the Twinkies have the AL Central wrapped up in my opinion.

The NL East, NL West, and the NL Wildcard will be very exciting to watch in the final month.

By the way, what is this baseball people speak of? During all the football on Saturday and Sunday, I flipped to some sport where guys throw balls at other guys with sticks. It seemed pretty boring so I flipped it off. Thank God for football.

^Baseball is a thinking mans game…
Stick with sports that you don’t need an attention span for…like the the NBA and NFL.

BTW…I watch the both of them too.

'Nuff said…

When you have guys like Milton Bradley, Manny Ramirez, Bud Selig, and Ricky Henderson in your sport, I don’t think “thinking” should be mentioned. There’s no bigger myth than baseball being a “thinking man’s sport.” I will guarantee you that the dumbest athletes in the four major sports are baseball players. Half these guys probably haven’t even finished high school. There’s very basic rules governing what to do on almost every type of play (which are still botched on a daily basis by players and managers) and compared to the ultra-complicated of a football plays, it’s not even close. Besides, baseball is the closest thing to an individual sport as it gets. And I’d argue NBA is more complicated to but I’ll stick with football for now.

Actually, I watch baseball too but I definitely watch less of it once football gets going. Just wait the playoffs start…I’ll be glued to the TV.

Wow, I happen to know a few Hall of Famers and many, many World Series champs not too mention some fairly smart Baseball Execs too, some of which were good players as well… They seem fairly intelligent and bright, but maybe I am dumb…

Nah… But I do like that you named a few real winners from the sport… I mean really, you can name 100’s from all sports. Baseball is one of the hardest sports out there, a 3"ball at 96MPH with a 2.5" bat… yeah… But having spent quite a bit of time with many players and even a few MLB coaches, I would disagree with you here…

Whoa…whoa…whoa…Are you kidding?..You must be kidding right?

There is SOOOO much strategy that goes into baseball and it is nowhere near an individual sport. Really…please re-read your post and think about it again.

“You’re crazy man…I like you, but you’re crazy!”-Will Ferrell from “Old School”

Wasn’t that right about the time the horse sedative kicked in? LOL
