MLB 2011 Thread!!!

I agree with Sparky and Brian. Quade is a goner…but not until the end of the season. Hendry, that I am not so convinced about. He may get a shot to dump these bad contracts and see what happens. The next two weeks are crucial for Jim. If he performs some magic, he may get the chance to go after Prince (Pujols is staying in St. Louis or going to LAA). Hendry IS a good baseball guy. Maybe not a great business man, however.

As for Sandberg, the local media has revived the Sandberg saga this week for some reason. They KNOW Quade is gone and Ryno is the man. His team in (insert Phillies AAA afiliate city) is in first place AGAIN! The man has paid his dues. He might as well start looking for real estate in Lincoln Park–Ricketts has too many empty seats. Ryno=ticket sales.

Let’s not forget this puke that they call a pitching coach, Mark Riggins. He looks like Lou Brown–just doesn’t coach like him. You can tell there is no chemistry. I sit front row by the bullpen a lot and he just stands around…not very vocal. These kids NEED vocal. And yes, welcome back to Chicago MadDog!

Go Phillies!

i think the kid did a real respectable thing with Jeter’'s ball. good karma coming his way.

No, that would be the Dontrelle Willis deal where we signed him to a 3-year 29 million deal after we traded for him. No Tigers, don’t TRY HIM OUT for the one year left on his deal to see if he still has it despite obviously declining numbers over the last few years…just sign him to a three-year deal. He may have started maybe 7 or 8 games in that three year span and was awful in all but maybe 2 of them.

And I’m STILL pissed every time I see Jair Jurrjens who the Tigers traded for Edgar frickin Renteria who sucked for us for a year before leaving.

And it’s the 2nd half which means it’s time for the Tigers to collapse again.

Nice to see the Tigers seem to be getting out of this phase where they were owned by Carl Pavano…been doing fairly well with him the last few years. And Verlander = stud. Not much I can say. Him getting out of that lead-off triple was sweet.

Headin down to the Natti this weekend. Gonna see Bravos Reds tomorrow.

So where’s Beltran heading this week? Good riddance.

^It’s so funny reading all the “good riddance” posts about Beltran about then listening to the radio about how he’s the biggest trade piece out there. How funny. Meanwhile James Shields is out there and has one of the lowest ERAs in baseball and he’s barely mentioned.

Nice work, Tigers, to take 3 of 4 from the Twins. Gotta say they’re doing well within the division.

Go Cubs Go!!
It only took over 100 games to get your first 3-game winning streak of the year!

Against the only team in baseball that is WORSE than you!
Be proud!!! :unamused:

Beltran has given us Mets fans plenty of headaches and stress over the years. I’d rather pick up some pitching prospects and start fresh. He’s clearly a money player. I just hope he doesnt go to philly or atl like ive been hearing. hopefully it will be SF. should get the news by sat.

Twins dead, I think…

I got to say that with the way my Cubbies have played this year I haven’t really followed baseball that close expect for SportsCenter highlights…

But I have followed this Bryan Stow story for most all of this year.
Just a crazy story. I can’t believe people would/could act like this over a game.
Damn Giants/Dodgers rivalry is redic.
Makes the Yanks/Red Sox look actually nice.
I mean, can you imagine people beating the shit out of each other over different bands or something?

Anyway, they let go the first guy they arrested, but have now charged 2 guys over this horrible act.
And now there is more sad news coming out of L.A.

Bryan Stow suspects assaulted others?

What a world…

Wow,…anyone see the ending of that Pirates/Braves game last night?

Was that the worse call in MLB history?
My god…that ump should be fired and never allowed to work a game again. He was out by 2 feet at least.

The Pirates are for real though huh? Even getting robbed like that.
I’m gonna have to pay more attention to them.

“Good morning, Tom! Hope all is well. The good news is the Cubs just won 3 in a row!
The bad news is that the Yankees don’t want Zambrano, and you have to eat
95% of Soriano’s contract in order to move him!
Enjoy your day!”

Beltran to Giants…

This is for Ryan… Just read it in the Onion…

Twins Shocked To Learn You Can Score 2 Runs In Same Play

MINNEAPOLIS—The fourth-place Minnesota Twins finally came to realize baseball teams can score more than one run in a single play when, in the fifth inning of their 4-6 loss to the Cleveland Indians last Monday, they witnessed their opponents do just that. “It doesn’t seem like it should be allowed,” said Twins manager Ron Gardenhire, who ran out of the dugout to protest when he saw two Cleveland players touch home plate. “We’ve never tried to pull anything like that. Quite frankly, it looks pretty hard. First off, you’d almost have to be in a situation where two people were on base, and then if you could manage that, a hitter would have to hit the ball so far away from the fielders that there would be little chance of getting it back to the catcher before the second runner reached home plate. Sounds crazy to me.” Though he admitted the team still did not quite understand how scoring multiple runs works, Gardenhire called it a “cheap gimmick” and said the Twins would not attempt it anytime soon.

^^Nice, Sparky! So true…

I also love how Quade was quoted yesterday as saying “we still have a chance.” The fucking guys is starting to go bonkos!

To be frank, no. To give the benefit of the doubt, it’s awfully hard to see if he actually tags the guy as he goes by. I’ve watched at least three different replays from three different angles and it’s still not definitive. If this had gone to review, they probably would have held up the call for insufficient evidence. I can’t blame a ref for messing up a call that close.

Now the Galarraga call…

BWAHAHAAH. Good ole Onion…

Fukudome to the Indians for prospects.

Alright!!! World Series here we come!!!

:unamused:

Lots of talk here locally of the Tigers trading for Ubaldo Jimenez since we basically don’t have a 5th starter since Phil Coke was a disaster. I wouldn’t give up any current pitchers for him but we have this prospect named Jacob Turner who gets lots of hype who’d I’d deal in a second. I’d always give up a prospect for a sure starter.
