MLB 2011 Thread!!!

“Hey, Tito. Yeah, I know you ended a 6257-year drought, was the leader behind one of the most miraculous comebacks ever that literally changed the fate of an entire franchise in a week and brought not one but TWO rings to a city that hadn’t had any in 100 years. But, hey, you don’t say “sir” to me enough and that collapse was pretty bad so you’re fired.”

Man, sports drive me nuts today. It’s not enough that Sawks fans want to hang themselves after the collapse now their stud manager and GM may be out too? Why not just set a bomb off in Fenway while they’re at it?

Not that I’m going to cry too much for Boston fans but this is just silly.

But, hey, everyone jump on the Tigers bandwagon…at least for this series if only because it’s fun to watch the Yanks get beat. Gooooo TIGERS!!

^yeah dude! don’t yet know where i’m gonna watch given that i don’t have a tv, but so amped.

Yeah, I’ve been out of cable for the last month and we should have has it hooked up JUST today. Either way, I was ready to head to the nearest Buffalo Wild Wings to watch. I’m not missing any of these games.

And did I say the Rays will get killed? I meant the Rangers…no really…

By the way, nice photo of Francona in his car and leaving the owner’s meeting. It may just be timing of catching him with that expression but, man, he looks pissed. I tried to post the pic but it wouldn’t work…check on ESPN.

I suppose I’m gonna go with the Brewers in the NL and whoever wins the Yankees-Tigers series in the AL.

Well…that game was…exciting. Rain delays suck.

ugh. went to local bar (something i never do, but i ran into a cousin at Meijer earlier in the day and its where he was going) and brewed up ready for the first postseason action in 5 years… and wah wah.

oh well, things should be very interesting now that the series is all turned upside down.

Ouch. Nova was a beast tonight (maybe because the Tigs never saw him before). And Fister was shaky all night…not what we expected but, hey, it’s not like it was Verlander. This series is eeeerily similar to 2006. ALDS with Yanks/Verl, Verlander’s start is rain delayed, Yanks score a load in game 1, Tigers stud going at home in Game 3. Hmmm…

And, wow, are the Rangers pitchers shaky or are the Rays just rolling? Almost a comeback in Game 2. Could be a good series.

Oh yeah…and some NL teams won, I heard.

Super Nova!

Super Scherzer!

Still, the similarities of this to 06 continue. Pitcher shuts down Yanks in Game 2 and had the Tigers closer struggled but got the wins…just like 06. Now we have our stud at home in Game 3. Let’s get this done, Tigs.

One and one going into Detroit. Good playoffs.

How about those Brewers? If the Yankees fall by the wayside, I could hitchup to this team very easily.

Brew Crew looks nasty so far. Cardinals hanging in there but I doubt it’ll last. Brew/Phils series could be sweet.

And JV at home in a tied series? What else can I ask for? Probably the whole series tonight.

Det will win tonight, just sayin…

Jeez…4th inning and Smoltz is right…this game is really dramatic. Both pitchers getting in and out of jams, and Sabathia finally looking shaky (and I think the ump has been VERY stingy with his borderline strikes). Verlander looks like he’s calming down…I’ve seen it before…

Holy Fucking Shit. Tigers.

That was one of the more dramatic games I’ve ever seen. My stomach’s in knots and I got about four ulcers. Jesus Christ. I said that was the series and I mean it…it felt like it was.

And thank you Twins for Delmon Young!

this.

Well played, sir! BUT I gotta say that I think NOBODY is gonna beat the Brewers. That’s right. Brewers gooing all the way—you heard it right here. That way, Prince is satisfied and won’t feel bad about coming to the Cubs. It’s gonna happen.

NY wins tonight…

God damn Adrian Beltre.

3 dingers today!? That’s some select company you’re joining with that feat. (B. Ruth, R. Jackson,G. Brett)
Looks like he’ll even have one more at bat before the game is over, can he hit 4?

Looks like the Rangers are gonna move on unless the Rays can get it together here.

But damn Beltre…

Ouch. Awful hitting performance by the Tigers. Monstrous out by Granderson in the first…had that landed and we get two or three runs, Burnett could have been sent the other way completely. Instead he settled down and smoked the Tigs. Plus the hitting even got worse as the game went along…they weren’t even working counts anymore. I’m not even sure why they yanked Burnett when they did…we weren’t hitting them.

Game 5: Fister v. Nova. If Nova pitches like he did in Game 1, we’re done no matter what Fister does.

Pissed that the Rangers put TB away. I like the TB team a lot. Plus I don’t care for the Rangers at all. Must have something to do with the Bush involvment.

Going to be a difficult game for Detroit tonight in NY, the hometown advantage will play heavily in what happens. But the Tigers have a habit of putting the Bombers in their place, even in the Stadium, so it should be a good game either way.

So want to see a Brewers/Phillies championship playoff. I think the Brewers may just have what it takes to topple Goliath.
