strangefolk has a cool sound, i def dig them, assembly should be cool to see then

Had a blast at the Albany show 10-14.
They’re playing pretty good even though Al is out. They’ve kept their spirits high and the energy is still there!

^ have a good one, one night stand for the hue, they were pretty darn good last night, a few spots you could tell that they were having trouble communicating what was going to be played.
there were lull’s inbetween some songs that drug on for 5-8 minutes where they were trying to build up the next song, ie/typical jamband fassion, but once they got the groove going it was good
i’ll chalk this up to the guest performers. Sloth, they had the guitarist from AOD and the keyboardist as well out there, tonight im sure they’ll have the guitarist from UMelt and maybe somebody else show up
damn the starland was packed though, and quite a bit of drama going on inside as well do to the starland being a bar, and them letting in under 21’s, so kids were being tossed left and right, and it was insanly hot inside, during set break just about everybody in the place tried to make it outside the venue for some fresh air, or a cig, or bowl and they made everybody go into this little fenced in area to do so, it was literally a feed line of cattle, then to get back in you had to fight your way through all the people still trying to make it out, they didn’t have an enter place and exit, it was the same thing.
im sure they had a huge walk up demand, and i don’t think the staff was ready for it, it seemed like security was perticularly on edge
moe. played well though so that made it all the better, kinda tuff to find a bit of dance space for the old legs, but with some clever blocking from my bud, him and i were able to carve out a few feet for ourselves to get down
one thing i noticed about the music was that they’d build a groove up that was great then they would stray from it when they shouldn’t of, kinda the risk with improv but i felt that their improving skills could have been better for a band thats been together this long, when they did find it, ie the groove it was bliss, but with a new guitarist in the mix, it wandered to far sometimes
good time thou, i will def check them out again, just not anytime in the very very near future, which means, i don’t need to see them again for six months or more
there is just so much good music out there to go see to venture to go see them again that soon
im really looking forward to MMWScofield that comes this way in november
^I might go see the mmwscofield tour in Mpls on Dec. 8 or something…maybe

Olfactory, I think you should really consider seeing them again if Al is with them. I think it might be a whole other story…
I will check them out again, just not really really soon, from the ratings on setlist.com, looks as though the saturday show was a tad better
well night two was quite a good concert as this was my first moe. experiance
well to start off the starland ballroom is in the middle of fucking NOWHERE… it took about 45 minutes when we were in Sayreville to find it… google map directions sucked for once…
so we get in… no security check for my last 2 concerts (trey the last) so thats good that i got my 3 blunts and bowl in
umelt was aight… i guess when you hear a new, younger band getting started you dont appriciate them as much as you should… chuck came on with Umelt and played a song… i have no idea what it was
so umelt gets off stage and first thing i notice is that no lights came on and just the projector screen was down so voila we sparked blunt 1. well between my 3 friends and myself i got a good buzz and was just waitin for moe to take to the stage. we talk with some wooks and some guys from jersey about concerts we’ve seen and whos good and some personal stuff like hobbies and whatever.
moe. came on and burst into She Sends Me, now being my first moe. concert i had no idea what to expect except some good jams and good vibes… WOW did the energy hit right away. Spark up #2 and this is where the concert takes off. I have no idea what nug i smoked but damn it got me up there… probably the highest i’ve been since my first session at a sigh Jack Johnson concert.
so yea she sends me is good and im baked and grooving… i accidently gave a big wook a bow to the ribs but all was ok as i apologized and offered him some blunt ( hue was right it was PACKED in the ballroom and there was tons of drunk people goin crazy)… so anyways they go into Cant Seem to Find which is a good song because i know it… and im grooving to the jam when bam, my eyes give out on me and i just see black. My eyes were open and i could hear just couldnt see… alright whatever im blind just keep dancing… then despite no one believing me and i dont blame you if you do, i see some geometric patterns and fractals. whoa!! wtf is goin on.
so i calm down and regain sight and Cstf ends… i tell my friends what happend and they say ‘bullshit’
so another song starts and im groovin again, ill get a setlist up but i remember a segue into Brent Black and damn was it such a tight energetic concert. mid song a guitarist runs onstage and plays some ripping solo so yea it was a great jam…
a couple songs come and go and a song ends as the guys walk off but wait the drummer is still going!!! great drum solo and etc and the guys come back on
so set ends and we chat with some dude during setbreak and he packs up a bowl for us and mid session when my friend is hittin it, some huge ass PSA security dude comes from nowhere and rips the bowl out of my friends hands and peaces… fuck that guy we spark up #3… well the blunts just about done and what do ya know, im blind again… so yea i start flippin out and my friend says shut up man moe.s coming back on…
so i chill for a while and listen to the tunes and gain back my sight…
mid set i gotta take the biggest piss of my life so one of my friends and i take a journey…
well he starts goin to the bathroom and being kinda a noob at concerts he scurries off leaving me way behind and hell im lost… enter blackout 3, i keep walking and lose my eyesight again and decide to just take a seat in the middle of all these people which is a dick move but i was not alright… well these friendly peeps gave me some water and walked me to the bathroom… sure enough my friend isnt there so i thank the dude that was helping me and he peaced back to the dance floor.
i sat down on the chairs outside the bathroom and remotely listened to moe. jam on but i was sad that i couldnt find my friends… as fate would have it all 3 of them show up after the song being played was finished and were pretty pissed at me ( meanwhile im pissed at the one that left me and at myself for getting out of control ) so it was getting late i got news that Al came on for Rec. Chem. which i really hated myself over.
anyways it was gettin late and my mom called me to ask when it would be over and i said that the 2nd set wasnt done but its ok if we left, so we peaced out of Starland and went home

nice stories, i’ve had that happen with my sight as well before, normally when i stand up after sitting for too long, i think it’s just a lack of blood to the head, or when your blood sugar is two low it’ll happen
i once had this happen for a really long long time, probably couldn’t see for a few minutes if not more, this occured at great adventure in line for batman roller coaster on a day when the temp was 105 degrees. i had gotten my wisdom teeth taken out a few days prior to going and had eaten two hydrocodons before entering the park, and smoke bowl after bowl topped of with some opium, it was a crazy day, we even were blazing on that ride that takes you over the park, kinda like a ski lift, what fun times
yeah starland is out in the middle of nowhere, but that is a good thing, i like the no pat down too, glad you had a good time, i did as well, it was my first moe. show too

i missed saturday, i had a gut feeling i should have went the second night instead of friday, but had other things that needed to be accomplished on saturday and it just didn’t leave enough time to get back to sayerville for night two, ah well
friday was stilll a fun time

yea i know as soon as i saw rebubula on the setlist i knew i fucked up that night…
well lesson learned i guess…
just gotta get the show to listen to and cry that i was too messed up to know what happend…
