Sorry, Marianne…

Tucked into moe.'s email newsletter this past Tuesday was this statement:

“After moe.down, moe. will not be playing any more shows for some time. The band is taking a break with the intent of returning again in 2009.”

The note also announced, “This summer, moe. will embark on one of its biggest summer tours to date. The band intends to spend most of June and July on the road. The tour will begin at Summer Camp and wind down in early August. moe. will finish out the summer at moe.down 9 in Turin, NY.”

The exact dates of the summer tour and this year’s moe.down have not been revealed but moe’s Summer Camp 2008, taking place May 23-25 in Chillicothe, IL, just added the New Pornographers, Girl Talk, Mifune, The PMG, Sub-ID and Waterstreet have been added to the bill.

At least they gave a specific timetable for return.

When Phish disbanded in TWO-THOUSAND it was labeled as an “indefinite hiatus.”

Actually that does make me feel better, for some reason.

moe isn’t really bad at all, but they don’t and will never have “it” like Phish did/does

I hope one of those June/July stops is at 10K again. Al raved about it last year…at least according to the 10K site.

I’ve only very recently started listening to moe, and I like what I’ve heard from their last couple of tours more than anything I’ve heard from the rest of their career. Oh well…most bands that aren’t jambands take a lot more than 6 months a year off touring. I don’t know why it is such a shock that a band wouldn’t plan on playing any shows for 6 months.

not that i even care anyway. I don’t even like moe. I don’t entirely dislike them either i just don’t really care.

i’ve seen moe. a couple times and they did not pass the cJ test. maybe they just did not find me attractive or i had an off night, and then another one a couple years later.

I think they’re alright. They would be great if they would climax more. They’re pretty anti-climatic.

well im a moe.ron and i for one am glad for the hiatus.they just want some time off for family and other things. they will be back next year for summer camp.

I love this kind of stuff. Wait, so moe. isn’t going to tour for about a year and will be back in 2009?..You mean just like 99.9% of the popular bands out there? So basically moe. said “we’re going to act like a normal band for a year.”

And moe. is definitely in the same realm of Phish. They’re quite polished indeed…
