Dude man bro calling anything “best ever” after '95 is an embarassment to the Phish community.
But but but…Twist didn’t premiere until '97…
And I would call the SPAC Twist one of the best ever, actually. The only other good jams I can remember from it are 6/14/00 and 4/2/98. Granted I haven’t heard every Twist ever, and I think there’s a pretty good one from Fall '97 somewhere, but but but…
I agree, the SPAC “Twist” is tight, yo.
I will argue to my death that the band was on mushrooms for the 6/14/00 show. Hence the “nourishment” comment from Trey at the end of “Melt,” as well as the overall spookiness of the second set.
Also, I think mushrooms were still legal in Japan as late as 2000, no? yes? maybe?
SPAC twist is probably in my top 5, as well as 4.16.04!
I just cannot, for the life of me, get into the Vegas '04 run. Sometimes, I even forget it ocurred.
The run is mostly a wash but I highly recommend giving the Twist a chance. One of the best peaks in a jam post-hiatus, on par with the IT GhOsT.
Agreed. I dont like much PH, but the Vegas Twist is nice.

No, that was a rumor started on that tour. I’m almost positive that all the drugs that are illegal here and just as illegal in Japan.
Not true. Mushrooms, at the time of the tour (2000) were legal in Japan.
I didn’t even know that a rumor like that existed; this was something I’ve always personally believed. I doubt Trey was referring to veggie burritos or grilled cheese sandwiches when he mentioned “nourishment” several times.
Then again, I suppose he could have been.
Wait…
No, I don’t think so.
Keep in mind folks, calling a good post hiatus jam overrated is an easy thing to do, being that there are not that many to choose from. The jams in question have been talked about aud nausium for the past 4 years and it’s all we had to go on when the bands future was not in question. So it’s only fair to say in retrospect that Post and Pre hiatus Phish are 2 different animals and probably do deserve to be taken out of comparison. The 24 months off they had caused irreparable damage to the power of the band as a whole. 2001 could have been another 97 type year with the band reinventing itself yet again without loosing their cohesiveness. Oh well there is nothing we can do about it now. I try to stay focused on the positives like they were still the best band in the world even at 80%. That being said i think the 46 days from IT is overrated. And Hank listen to the 12-16-99 Tweez and your face will melt hard and fast. Like that dude in Raider’s of the Lost Ark!
How about a 'Most Over-rated ‘99 jam’ thread??

haha!
Yes!
9.18.99 Boogie=trash!

Same with the jam in the Hampton “YEM.” It sucks.

Be There!
Ha ha ha ha!! Good stuff.
I don’t get it.
I didn’t really either.
We were joking about doing a Most Overrated '99 Jam thread.
I know, but what does “99 v 99” mean?
