I believe that round room is Phish’s most underrated album cause most of my friends that like Phish seem to lump it with Undermind but i have to keep reminding them there crazy. With classics like Pebbles and Marbles, 46 Days, Walls of the Cave, Seven Below (which i do believe to be Phish classics). As well as the more laid back slower stuff with beautiful lyrics such as Anything But me, Friday, and Mock Song ( a true mike song). I only put this thread under Round Room because i believe it to be there most underated. If there is anyone who disagrees id like to hear thoughts. I consider Round Room one of phish’s best albums which i guess means i think its equal to everyone except Round Room.
Do you mean it is equal to everyone except Undermind?
I agree that it is the most underated phish album. I don’t know if i consider Walls of the cave classic phish. but the other three definately are. I think that 46 days sounds like something written for Farmhouse. Seven Below is one of the best songs when preformed live, amost up there with the likes of David bowie. I used to not be such a big fan of this album becuase it was almost to slow and peaceful but now i love this album.
…And WAVES!
Theoretically, each person on this board could argue his/her favorite album is ‘underrated.’ I could argue my favorite album, Farmhouse, is underrated simply because so many more people like Rift and Picture of Nectar. Farmhouse’s lyrics are right up there with Billy Breathes and Rift, and the music is down-at-home and easy to listen to. I especially enjoy “Gotta Jibboo” and think it is, for all intents and purposes, one of the more underrated Phish songs.
So do I think Round Room is Phish’s most underrated album? No…
^ Neither do I.
I do think ROUND ROOM is definately underrated, though…

Not really I my favorite phish albums always changes depending on the mood I am in. But i dont think it has ever been Undermind.
^oh nevermind i misunderstood what you were saying
Round Room is Fresh, has depth, it’s raw (like phish live), it’s clean, it feels good, but most of all it’s pure soul and straight from their hearts. Very underated album and one of my favs. The backing vocals are sweet too.
I dislike Rolling Stone Magazine’s review of Round Room, something about “sloppy seconds.” Don’t know what they are talking about, the album doesn’t sound sloppy to me
Waves might be the finest studio phish song ever… IMHO. That song takes me on a journey every time I listen to it.
I don’t have a problem with the idea behind recording this album – make it sound live – but damn! I just wish it had better engineering. For example, during the Pebbles and Marbles jam, it’s just a blur, Fish’s drums are just buried in the mix. Tchad Blake came one album too late, IMO.
Honestly, I’m going to have to say that Undermind is the most underrated album. Don’t worry. Don’t worry. I’m not gonna do what everyone THINKS I’m gonna do and say that Round Room isn’t underrated. So all I have to say is…who’s comin’ with me? Who’s comin’ with me man and says that Undermind is underrated?
^ I will go with you and say that it is underated. Also i think that roundroom is underrated. It is a musical masterpiece! Yeah, I said it, and there is nothing you can do about it, unless you are a goderator and you delete this post, which I doubt you would.
I love roundroom, not a bad song on it, not even thunderhead is a bad song, but it does suck the enegry out of a show. Pebbles and marbles, Seven below, Walls of a cave are all AMAZING! I am listening to this album again. I probably listen to this album more than anyother studio album. It is beautiful, and deserves more praise! START PRAISING!!
Edit: How could I forget Waves? Dear lord that is a great song!
Round Room to me proved that they still had it in them to write great songs. Undermind was kind of like a mixed message send-off, shaky but emotional like Coventry.
I can say in my opinion I felt this was super underated. By myself mostly. When it came out I didn’t really give it the time. Now…a few years later I’ve listened to this album far more then any of the other studios. I love Mock Song. I listen to it repeatedly quite often. What a good album. Props Phish…(If you would ever see this)
Oh, tequila…I turn to you like a long lost friend…
Me too, Trey, me too…
lately, this is the album i’ve listened to the most.
i think in a previous thread I probably disagreed with the thought that RR was the most underrated album, but I am having second thoughts.
I just adore Round Room. It’s one of the few albums I have that is 78 minutes long and doesn’t feel like too much to listen to in one sitting. I dream about the day they may re-release all of Phish’s studio albums with bonus material.
I really love this record. Ive been listening to it a lot lately. Pebbles, Waves, WOTC, and Thunderhead are among my favorites.
i try and i try to “get” this album, and i almost can…but not quite. it is a beautiful album, i love the no gimmicks/honest nature of it, but it just falls a little short for me. damn.
