Most Underrated Phish Song

You’ll find it used…that’s how I got mine.

Mound is a rather underrated song, it gives mike a chance to shine, and i like to clap.

sounds like we might be sparin’ sometime soon…

I like Esther when I’m in the mood. When I’m not, I loathe it. I actually like it better when Trey effs up the lyrics…

I don’t know if you can consider this song “overrated” but “The Curtain With” is a beautiful song. It has a soaring jam at the end, if extended, and can really make me stop and think. I didn’t like the song at first, but now I do.

how about train song! this song is beautiful in every aspect, the harmony, simple, repeating acoustic riff! one of my favorite underates. of course billy breathes is awesome. also first song ever off studio album. fee! maybe this isnt considered underrated by i never hear anything about it. thoughts?

Strange Design. I am guilty of overlooking this song for awhile, because I always talk about the jams, but this is a great tune.

Friday. Crowd groans and posts show that this song is definately underrated and unappreciated. At the wrong place at the wrong time, it’s no good, but placed perfectly in a set, it’s amazing.

I just want to throw a few out there: Weigh, BOAF, Lifeboy, The Curtain, and of course OhKee Pa Ceremony.

BOAF for both its building jam and lyrical genius. Nice.

Weigh is an awesuma song.
Controversial perhaps, but I think Gotta Jibboo is underrated. I just love the groove in it. I know it was overplayed in 99/00 and everybody got sick of it, but I think the few times they played it post-hiatus, it was extremely well played and well placed. God I can’t wait til my copy of 6/20/04 gets here. How can you go wrong with Piper -> Gotta Jibboo?!

the rest of your lifetime devoid of a care, if you keep your heart open you may find yourself there

yeah…I don’t usually like ballads. But the phish slow tunes are usually so great.

Waste, If I could, Anything but me, and even all of these dreams are excellent tunes.

Horn (played 6/20/04 also) is another ballad that I’ve always liked.

I’ve got the livephish version of that show and the YEM buildup is audible but you definately don’t feel the energy that culminated in the venue. I’m sure that it’s present on a non-livephish tape, and I know this is the wrong thread but if anyone has it, let me know…

Destiny Unbound!! Timber! Tela, Rift, , Mound, My Friend, My Friend, Dog Log, Mist, maybe not the most underrated, but how about Brother? It’s fun, it can swing, and some explosive guitar there on the end. Meatstick, another very fun song. Vultures, love it. The Curtain With (Vegas 2000 version, any version but Coventry!!) has to be underrated since Trey thought enough of it to close out Coventry with it. Ahh there’s too many to name

NICU, for sure. No one ever talks about it, but I think it’s great. I also am a big fan of both Axilla’s, which also doesn’t get any praise.

“Horn” is possibly my favorite studio ballad. Good call.

Rift, Mound, Greenburg, Slave… Who says these tunes are underrated. Like what you think sounds good and you will be much happier.

windora bug…man this song is so tasteful and the chorus is great its just an awesome phish-reggae-cool vocals kinda song

i only hear complaints about “Bug”. if the placement is right in the show, that song is great! the end jam can be real beautiful…
