Moving to San Francisco

talk to Sean

Yeeeeeeeah!!!

Well, I don’t actually live up there… but I love visiting. Great city.

Things to do? Eat. Some of the greatest food in the world in that city. Just Yelp your way to heaven.

And music. Always great music going down around town, just check the SFweekly.

There are plenty of touristy kind of things to keep you occupied like gg park, the haight, fisherman’s wharf, chinatown, alcatraz, etc… most are worth checking out. But there are little tiny parks and stairs all over the place with killer views.

I dunno… what are you into? It pretty much has it all. Have a blast!

Tons of stuff to do! I don’t even know where to begin! Where are you living?

everything.

heady! have fun…I don’t know too much besides being a tourist there. Couple pretty funny stories and memorable times from the three times I’ve visited there…

SF is a great town. Expensive, but really fun. I lived in Tahoe & Sacramento so I visited quite a bit…as music fan, you will not be disappointed!

Yeah, my wife is from Davis, so that is part of our motivation for moving. Her parents also have a spot in Tahoe, so we will probably be spending a fair amount of time up there.

I’m more interested in specific recommendations such as restaurants, bars, etc. I’m into pretty much anything. We’re probably gonna be living in or around lower pacific heights.

this thread made me think of this.

I would start with Yelp, it’s never let me down.

^Yelp is great. Lot’s of cool new features lately, too!

And Yelp was born in SF… so, it’s by far the most comprehensive city on that site. Yelp is the best. Just install the Yelp app on your phone and get ready for some tasty, tasty food.

I live in SF! Drop me a line if you need any help with anything. Once you get settled in here and are more familiar to the area then I can tell you about where to go and where not to go.

SF is a great place, be sure to get some good recommendations for food, I know there are great spots there, but there are also some seedy crap holes food wise as well.

Have a fun move and enjoy some great weather and some snow, lol!!!

I think every time I’m in SF (which is like 4 or 5 times a year), I find a new favorite restaurant.

For a long time, we couldn’t go without hitting up Firefly in Noe Valley. It’s a little expensive but the food is delicious. But, yeah… there’s enough awesome food up there to keep you on your toes for a long, long time.

I hear their football team sucks

Thanks DWW! I will definitely hit you up when we get settled in.

 They don’t have snow in San Francisco. Unless you’re talking about a different type of snow…

EDIT: Just saw this in an article:

Heh, so maybe they will get a little tiny bit. That’s crazy. They say this storm has already dumped more than 2 feet on the Sierra Nevada mountain range, though. Now that’s a snowy place. A friend of mine has lived in the Sierras in Northern Cal., as well as in Lake Tahoe, and he always lived up on a mountain, and he said in the mornings he would have to go brush the snow off the windows so light could get into the house. Of course, most of that was just snow that was blown around by the high winds and ended up on his windows, but still, lots of snow up in those mountains for sure.

Golden Gate Park 4 Lyphe

good luck with your move! hope you’re still around in august so you can see phish at outside lands…

Here’s one of the places we eat at in SF when we stay with friends in Marin:

We also eat anywhere in Chinatown. And there was this really great bar we hung at near the art museum, but I can’t remember its name, will see if I can find out.
