Never get out of this maze

I’m getting more into it!

This is the album that got me hooked. Probably 9-10 years ago a friend told me to listen to this the whole way through, then do it a second time. Well the first time the only song that stuck out was maze. I put it on the shelf for a while and when I came back to it a few weeks later, I couldn’t take it out of my cd player! I went out and bought junta and was blown away. I still think Rift is their best “album” while junta is more of a collection of great compositions but lacks the flow that Rift has.

I totally agree with booztravlr. Junta was a great album in the respect that it had The Epics such as YEM,Divided Sky, Fluffhead. But it is just a bunch of songs more or less haphazardly thrown about. Rift had a flow made it fantastic.

gotta be my fav phish ablum

A friend of mine in high school totally loved Trey Anastasio… he’s like, yeah, you should listen to “Rift”… so that was the first Phish I ever heard. (It’s funny, when I saw the title “Fast Enough for You” I thought it was going to be a total shred-fest. Yeah right.)

Some of Page’s sickest organ is on Maze. I ALWAYS love this song

i was thinking that rift was a bad album because i never listen to it… and then i realized I DIDN’T HAVE IT so i went out and bougth it last night. IT IS GREAT!!!

maze and it’s ice are the same length? was listening to the maze from the great woods 7-24-93 set II that’s a great set along with a great maze.

I love this album, The band is completley together definitly good stuff!

I definitely this is the best album to listen to start to finish as far as how the songs combine with each other.

I still listen to RIFT in my car at least once a month…alll the waaaaay through!

Rift is the album that started my obsession.

I enjoy Rift as a whole, but the one song that gets me is Maze.

Every live show I attended (I think literally…) contained that tick tock of Fishhman’s cymbals that always set me up for “Bowie” only to be knocked down by Maze. I just have never been excited to hear that song. Even out of the context of a 'lack of David Bowie", I still don’t think the song has much strength behind it.

I don’t know, I’m probably just bitter about having missed out on Bowie.

Anyone ever think it was ‘Never get out of this phase’? I did when I first started listening to them. I know it’s called Maze and all, but it really sounds like they are saying different things there sometimes.

I just listened to this CD tonight for the first time in a long time. It brought back memories from '95 when I was living in California dealing with the aftermath of a painful break up. I’d put this on and fire one up during Rift and the pot would kick in during Fast Enough For You. I loved the flow of that song and how it had an ethereal feel to it. It’d put me in a mellow mood for the rest of the evening. By the time Silent In The Morning finished, I was feeling really really good. That’s why it’s my favorite Phish CD.
