Since I’ve been here I’ve mentioned a radio station that we have here on many occasions. The playlist would have appeased everyone in this forum at some point if not always. Well, that station was given the ax by the man a month or so ago even after winning Station of the Year every year since it’s creation by New Music Weekly out in Cali and after the program director recieved 2 nominations and one actual award for PD of the year. So the program director decided to take it to the internet. It goes live today at 9:00 a.m. central time! You guys should all check it out. Now I’ll go ahead and warn you, Wildman Steve is on the obnoxious side as a DJ but he plays some fantastic music. If he gets on your nerves, just turn him down and wait a few seconds for the tunes to start again. With it being the first day, I’m sure he will have alot to say, but don’t let him detour you from the tunes. His show is from 9a-1p and his wife (who is MUCH easier on the ears) comes on 1p-5p. I’m guessing the rest of the day and night will be dj-less music. I ran into him at Amjam and he asked me to do a show for him!!! I haven’t messed with radio since I was in college the first time, and frankly would have to be taught everything, but if he’s willing so am I. We’ll see what happens with it. Anywho, you guys tell me what you think. Enjoy!
No takers? That’s too bad.
id listen if it wasnt for this damn dial up.
sorry, sis.
I’ll give it a listen when I get home.

How hard would it be for me to start a station like that? Could I just do that off my computer? Would I need some kind of server or something?
How do I tell what’s playing? Some of it’s good…I don’t like whatever this song is right now, but it could be worse. The first song I heard was Montana by Zappa and I haven’t really recognized anything since. I think there might have been some Yonder Mountain.
It’s a good link though.
He put a $12,000 studio in his house and is funded by the advertisers on his website. He’s also done like 3 benefits to raise money to fund it. I’m not sure what all you would have to do to get on the air yourself. I’ll tell ya the secrets when he puts me on the air in a few weeks
I’m not really sure how to know what songs are playing after 5. They have DJ’s from 9a-5p central time so they tell you what they’ve played and are about to play. It’s literally the first day they’ve been on air, so I’m sure they’re still working out all the kinks. If you like what you hear, please bear with them. Not everything is for everyone, but I guarentee you, you will love the majority of what you hear
So I talked to the Wildman a bit ago. First of all, it’s a volunteer gig which I expected. I don’t see how this thing is going to make any kind of money so I’m happy to do it for the experience. Now he’s leaving everything up to me. Said I can do it as often and be on as long as I want to up to 4 hours. I have a few weeks to think about it. Supposed to let him know after he gets back from Bonnaroo. m-f is covered until 5:00. Can’t do it Tues, Thurs, or Fri because of work, nor can I do it weekends during the day because of my other job every other weekend. Whadya kids think, just one Monday or Wednesday evening a week for like an hour or should I be bold and go for something more?
GR, they’ve fixed it so that you can see the current song playing and the previous 2. Everybody listen up!
sweet, rocking some Jimi right now.
NONNIE GO FOR ALL FOUR HOURS!!!
