Its a good choice for release, but I probably won’t pay for it.
The source I have for 12.29.97 isn’t fantastic, however. Are there some pretty good recordings of 12.29.97 out there, a?

SO, what was the release…?
Sounded like it was just 12/29/97, and not the whole NYE run. Show looks good on paper, but of all the shows I’d want to see released from fall '97?? Not so much. I think we all pretty much have copies of 12/30/97 in OK quality, but I wouldn’t mind paying to get that show in soundboard.
I’m pretty burned out on '97 anyway. Oh well.
^dude. Its a REALLY good show. Different than the Fall tour shows a little, but trust me, you’ll like it. The first set is nearly perfect in terms of energy and balance. Great versions of Fluff and Antelope to end the set. In fact, this antelope is almost as good as 4.3.98. Second set is a jamfest. Awesome Bowie and Possum. If you haven’t heard it and want a good source right now, I’d pay the 10 bucks.
12-29-97 Madison Square Garden, New York, NY
1: NICU-> Golgi Apparatus-> Crossroads, Cars Trucks Buses, Train Song, Theme From the Bottom-> Fluffhead, Dirt, Run Like an Antelope
2: Down With Disease*-> David Bowie%-> Possum-> I Can’t Turn You Loose^-> Possum#, Tube**, You Enjoy Myself
E: Good Times Bad Times
*Nonstandard ending; with Mike and Trey solos. %With “James Bond Theme” and “Run Like an Antelope” teases. ^A jam, from this song often associated with the “Blues Brothers,” but truly an Otis Redding cover. #“I Can’t Turn You Loose” reprised after “Possum.” **With a lengthy “I Can Feel the Earth Move” segment during the jam.
hell yeah!
i’m gonna seed the U89’s tomorrow, which are some of the best AUD’s i have ever heard.
a
actaully, this show doesnt do anything for me on paper, but it is a top 3 show that i saw, so that says alot.
IMO, this show contains the best versions of antelope, xroads and TUBE!
a
^Amen, I love this show. The Bowie->Possum/Tube segment is particularly Smokin’.
I agree. The tube is sick as well.
Thanks for seeding it!!
Wait…what?
some blog had trey’s mugshot up first, now the link says unavailable or some shit, just like the link for the livephish release
why wouldnt they release the next night instead? much better show
why is it better?
a
Yeah, 12/30 seems to tower over 12/29 in terms of hoopla and fanfare. I was at both and while 12/30 ended great, the first set, aside from the suprise SSTTA opener, was a little weak.
Overall 12/30 might be a better show, but I dont think it towers over 12/29.
I would hope if they are releasing 12/29 they do it right and give us the entire MSG New Year’s Run. But that almost seems unlikely. Bands don’t typically release 12/30 or 12/31 shows after New Years and I doubt they’ll just suddenly post this entire run right before x-mas. So maybe all we’ll get is 12/29. I’d rather have it than have nothing but I still think this '97 new year’s run should be done right - ala - Island Tour, even if it’s only available on livephish.com
If they were going to release the entire run…
Wouldn’t they start with 12/28?
I doubt they’d release a show that wasn’t MSG. 29-31 was at MSG. But hey, I’m all for it. Hell, lets just release all of fall '97 right.
When was this due to be released?, and is it still happening. I read somewhere that is was taken down from the Phish website.
It was probably taken down because it leaked to the public. It hasn’t been announced yet.
How cute would it be if they released it on 12/29?
Darling!
