New Phone

Hehe, yeah… that’s a good one. The fact that iPhone cannot and never will support flash is a total deal breaker for me.

I was running this as my bootup animation for a little while…

I am not sure why or how Apple overlooked this or decided to not include the needed Flash compatability… odd!

^Oh, it was not an oversight. It is an intentional war against Flash, who Steve Jobs never forgave for teaming up with Adobe. Check out his rage against flash…

Way to spite your customers for your own ego.

^Good read.

Although I am not a tech geek per se, I do know a little about this shit and I do get upset that Job’s used the battery draining line for a reason against flash. Shit, every app and most IPhones have battery issues, so how about change the battery as well? ha!

“According to Jobs, “Flash was created during the PC era – for PCs and mice. Flash is a successful business for Adobe, and we can understand why they want to push it beyond PCs. But the mobile era is about low power devices, touch interfaces and open web standards – all areas where Flash falls short” wrote Jobs.”

I wonder how Steve wrote the phrase “open web standards” without choking on his own hypocrisy?

There’s no room for 3rd party developers in the walled garden of Appletopia.

So, Google Android, how you doin? :sunglasses:

^Jay, I got to play around with the new Droid Incredible, and holy smokes!!! I have the Driod Motorola and I love it but the new Incredible is AWESOME!

Adobe’s response is nothing short of genius…

^They took the high road, ha!!

Haha, nice.

It’s kinda bizarre how many Apple devotees are saying - with completely straight faces - that Apple supports an “open web” approach with no proprietary technologies. It’s like they really believe that’s true. :wtf:

That is a great response from Adobe

I still love my Mac & Iphone
Flash ain’t that big of a deal,…I mean,…It’s not like its hurting Apples bottom line not supporting it.

Would I like it on my Iphone, sure! But its not like flash is THAT important.
I would love for Apple to budge,…and who knows, they still might.

In the mean time, my Iphone is fine.

I would still like to check out the driod though.

^ You know what Brian, these damn phones area changing weekly now so finding what you like and using it is key although I think you would like the Droid, it is so much faster!

Nah, I don’t think the issue is that Flash is so integral that iPhone users are getting shafted by having it blocked. To me, the problem is that Apple is saying one thing and doing another. Jobs will say everything he can about “protecting the user experience,” but IMO just a dressed up way of saying “we want total control.”

I’m just not down with Steve & Co. deciding how I’m allowed to use the web and what content I’m allowed to experience… but then telling me “it’s for your own good. We know what’s best for you. Just trust us.” Fuuuuuck that noise.

I got the update this morning on my Droid ERIS to upgrade to Android 2.1 OS.

Haven’t really had a chance to mess around with it, but i did open up OKP on the web, and that shit loaded so much faster than it used to.

Apparently it even has voice to text…whihc should make my life with fat ass fingers so much more easy!

^Yeah, 2.1 is way faster. It’s got the pinch zoom features on the home screen (or you can hit home twice to see all your home screens on one page). There are also a ton of apps that work on 2.1 that don’t work on older versions.

I ran the Eris 2.1 leak for a while a few months ago on my Hero before we got our hands on the Sprint leak-- it was a really nice ROM.

Dooj, any cool battery saving ideas you use or have? I have task killer / program manager etc… just curious if you see anything on Android that helps?

^Did you try going into settings>wireless&networks>mobile networks and then unchecking “Enable always-on mobile data”?

It will make it so you have a bit of a delay in receiving emails, unless you check manually, but it will save a lot of battery.

^Yes have that covered. Thanks! I did see the Driod has a new battery pack out, but it sounds like it is too bulky… Maybe?

So… the EVO came out… but I decided I’m not getting one yet.

I’m actually pretty happy with my Hero and my new priority is staying out of a contract. So, I am going the vintage route from now on! I will buy the EVO used in a few months and keep myself from committing to another 2 years of Sprint!

^ I just assumed you bumped this to mention the iphone4, but I’m glad you didn’t.

I will the new I phone looks unreal!
