New Trey album?

I just got an e-mail about this Horseshow album by Trey. (Yeah I know…I’m sure I’m WAY behind the curve on this one…I don’t have internet. Sue me). Anyway, did anyone get an advanced copy or whatever? What’s it like?

I must say i’m even more impressed that Trey released it from rehab. I KEED! I KEED!!

All instrumental, should be good. Hopefully.

more afro-cuban beats and horns? i’m sure it’ll be sweet, but haven’t we gotten like 3 or 5 albums of this kind of material before?

Do de dodo de do dedo de

^^No Trey lyrics though.

yeah, but there’s been lyrics in all of them. this one will be different (and hopefully better).

i like the instrumental elements WAY more than the lyrical elements with regards to Trey’s solo stuff.

Actually there WILL be lyrics. If I recall “Burlap Sack and Pumps” has a line where they say “burlap sack and pumps.” So that should be good.

Anyway, good to know about all that. It’s on my reserve list.

I"m actually looking forward to this… I think Iwas one of the only people I nkow that was really blown away by Plasma ( and was really pissed when I found our how unappreciative the crowd was there afterwards), so hopefully he took what he learned from instrumentals there and applied them here too…if he did I’m sure it will be good.

Trey + horns = good

people didn’t like Plasma??? no, Plasma was sweet. i’m just wondering if he has anything new up his sleeve, that’s all.

I’ve never heard Trey release two albums, with or without Phish, that sound the same. If he does that would be something new up his sleeve, in some kinda philosophically stoned way.

I’m not a fan of Plasma.

And I love that “era” of TAB.

Despite what someone will undoubtedly say, I think that Shine and Bar 18 cover the same ground. That is to say, boring.

I can’t believe that people can hate Plasma. I can see people saying they don’t like it, of think that shows from that same era had better versions or it wasn’t very representative of that era…but if people were hating on Plasma I can only imagine what they were feeling when Shine came out.

Wow, I’m amazed that anyone could say they didn’t like Plasma. Does it measure up to other versions or perhaps previous live Phish albums? Naw…but it’s damn good stuff. Personally I loved Shine…even the “Shine” song itself ranks up there as one of the best “feel-good” songs that Trey’s written.

Is it me or are Trey albums becoming like newer episodes of the Simpsons where people rip on them even though they’re good but aren’t as amazing as the previous work. Seems that way to me.

I’m always hoping that the next project(whoever it may be from the band) is pleasing to me. It just has not happened for awhile with Trey (for me). By the way i still love the Simpson’s!

NY Times Review:

TREY ANASTASIO

cool little read, thanks fone

btw the horns on this cd rule, check it out people

Good to hear that Tony is back on the bass…I always thought he was the best of Trey’s solo bass dudes. I’ve gotta order this thing on amazon…NOW…

Well I preordered it with Amazon and just got it in the mail yesterday. I REALLY like it. It’s great that Trey decided to go away from his normal songwriting and just create a nice composed album where they all can just plain jam for a while. I can definitely see myself wanting to groove to something and putting that CD in. Nice effort from Trey…and it’s great sound quality considering that he recorded it from rehab.

i’m loving the horseshoe curve…a little short, but i’m loving it.

my new theory for 95% of the jam-world:

“shut the fuck up and jam!”
