NFL 2010-11 Season

Reports: Brett Favre plans to retire

  …and the drama starts for MN Vikes fans…

in NFL news today:

favruh retires…again.
haynesworth continues to be a shitbag
cleveland is fully poised for a super bowl run

I’ll believe when I see it,…but this can’t be good news for Mr. Fumble Adrian Peterson.
Just stack the box against the Vikings now.

The Bears MIGHT have a shot against them now.

Yup, that would be the plan, single all WR and stack against the run… Man this might turn out bad for us, or could AP step and get 2000 and 15?

Basically a who’s who of has been’s and never were’s

Favre will be back!

Man, I gotta just get this off my chest.

I am so flippin sick of Brett Favre and his mellow-dramatic bullshit. It’s the same shit every year.
“I’m done. No I’m not. Yes, I’m done. Well, maybe not. I’ll let you know how I feel after the first pre-season game.”
Give me a f’n break already! Either tell people your going to play, and get your old ass to camp on time. Or tell people that you’re done, and STICK TO IT!

I realize that he will go down as one of the best QB’s in history, and his records speak for themselves. But, in my mind, he will go down as a lame ass, wishy-washy, desperate old man who didn’t know when to say when, and find a life outside of football. His “legacy” is completely tarnished with the way his last 4 years have gone.
I get that football is a way of life for these guys, and it must be very hard to let go of the only thing that you have known for the last 20 some-odd years. But there have been plenty of people before him who have had their time in the limelight, and have bowed out gracefully. Why is it so hard for him? Give me a break! :unamused:

You want one more crack at a championship? Great! Go for it. But tell your team that your coming back, and get to camp with the rest of them to show how serious you are. It’s not like you would have to do as much of the conditioning as the rest of the team, but at least your presence there would show the rest of the team that you mean business! Quit throwing passes to the high school kids in Mississippi, and start throwing the timing patterns to the receivers on your own damn team!!!

Brett, it’s either time to shit or get off the pot!

steps off soapbox

he must be addicted to painpills again because his dramatic diva fucking bullshit screams drug problem.

This time it’s all the media’s fault especially if you look at what the texts was that he sent to some players all it said was

“It is time” and somehow the foxsports of the world and the ESPN’s ran with it saying he’s gone he’s finished he’s announced his retirement. this time I don’t place any blame on favre

Hey Brett,…someone wants to say hi.

oh yea that hi low shit.

I wanna punch Farve in the face real bad. He is so annoying,

If Piper were to punch you in the face, you would have to resist the urge to thank him.

He is…The Most Interesting Man in the World!

Okay, I’ll actually defend Brett on this one.

For one, he wants to skip training camp. I think the Vikings coaching staff wants him to skip it too so he’s able to do another long playoff run. Why? Because he’s old and his body’s falling apart and he has surgery every year now. However, he can’t say, “I’m back but I’m skipping training camp!” because then he’d be a member of Vikings roster and would have to be fined for skipping camp like any player. No one on either side wants to do that so they’re staying quiet. Don’t expect any announcment until near the end of camp…I figured it would be this way from the start.

Here’s my issue…ESPN’s obsession with needing to be the group that “breaks the story” on him coming back. For one, ESPN needs to realize that no normal person gives a crap about who “breaks” a story. Of course, this can be said to all news organizations. I think ESPN still has egg on its face from last time when Glazer broke that Favre’s coming back and then they tried to run a counter story that he actually wasn’t coming back and, of course, Glazer was right. (It should be noted that during this week’s “retirement” story Glazer said he hadn’t heard anything).

In the end, I don’t mind if ESPN reports “we have sources that say that Brett told some folks he will retire” and leave it at that. But the fact that they acted like the news was 100% confirmed and started running all of their pre-prepared retirement pieces with endless interviews with their own analysts and stuff. THAT stuff is far more shameful than anything Brett’s doing. If anything I think Favre gets a big kick out of it and likes to fuck with them a bit.

I’m sick of it too… But I am also sick of the sensationalism the media brings to this…

Blame Favre, but blame ourselves as well, for reading, tuning into or allowing ESPN/etc to dictate certain stories…

Just like A-Roids HR, they stuff shit down our throats, and we all quickly point to the star in the center of it. If it did not sell papers, air time or anything, it would not be allowed…

Blame US, the fans and the era in which we live just as much as we blame the sports star…

/rant… :silent:

I do hope he comes back, as I want to win!

Hardknocks debuted tonight! This year with the Jets. Gotta admit it should be pretty entertaining.

Will Revis sign? Will he play this year?

^That whole Revis thing is ridiculous.
I’m glad the Jets aren’t caving to him. In fact I think they even said they can win without him.

I kind of get the Revis thing since he should be paid and holdouts are the only leverage players have since contracts are worthless and only binding to the player. However, this crap about being the highest-paid CB is ridiculous. Most CBs, including ones like Champ Bailey get like 9-10 millions a year. But the because the Raiders are idiots and are paying Nnamdi Asomugha 15-million a year, Revis wants more than that. So rather than the reasonable amount of ten million, he wants the Jets to match the idiot contract by the Raiders. Revis is asking for too much.

I say let him sit. He’s still got 3 years left on the contract that he already held out to get.

Don’t like what your getting paid? Fine, don’t play! That should help your market value in the years to come. :unamused:

Besides without Reevis, it only helps the Dolphins chances to win the division.
