The Red Army marches on, Marley. That team has been very good for the entire past decade. I think they’ll handle Calgary very easily. (Calgary is the only team in the West with less than 100 points in the season.) Olfactory, boozy…I just don’t see it happening for the East this year. The West is the best. Ride the snake. All that shit.
Right now I am enjoying the Dallas/Vancouver game. Dallas has come roaring back after losing Game 1. That goal in the second period was so good. The pass from Modano was a perfect saucer backhand pass. Nice and easy…the puck slowly rotated in the air…it floated right over the defenseman’s stick…BAM!!! Lundquist tipped/redirected it right up over the goalie’s shoulder and into the top of the net. That is what hockey is all about for me.
Third Period right now. Then Versus is showing another game (Anaheim/Minnesota) at 10:30. I know what I’m doing tonight.
Round one is over. None of the winners were a big surprise to me. I did want Dallas to win that game seven last night, but Vancouver is fun to watch. Those Sedin twins are very entertaining.
Eastern Conference
Buffalo/NY Rangers - I pick Buffalo, but I do like the Rangers. Jagr is very cool.
New Jersey/Ottawa - I pick Ottawa. I like New Jersey, but I don’t think they have enough offense.
Western Conference
Detroit/San Jose - This should be a great series. I’ll go with San Jose.
Anaheim/Vancouver - I pick Anaheim.
So Buffalo/Ottawa in the Eastern finals and a sweet battle of California San Jose/Anaheim Western finals.

I thought that Detroit would lose to San Jose. I really like Chelios, so I can live with it. Both conference finals should be great. I hope that both go seven games. I pick Anaheim and Buffalo. Then Anaheim will win the Cup.

I drove Jamie to the airport, and I missed most of the game. I walked in the door with about nine minutes left. Kind of a non-exciting goal by Detroit, but the only thing that matters is that the puck crosses the line. Brett, you must have loved being there. That place has to be buzzing during a playoff win like that. Shit, Marley can hardly contain himself, and he’s all the way across the continent.

I went to a graduation fiesta for my cousin at a local mexican restaurant right when the game started. When I got home I walked around the block with my dog. I came back in right before the overtime started. Now I’m waiting for the second overtime. I still get to see lots of hockey eventhough I missed the whole game. Go Sabres.
OK, not too much more hockey for me tonight. That second overtime didn’t go for very long. Great goal though. Damn Senators…took both games in Buffalo. Now they return to their lair in the Canadian capital. That’s where hockey comes from.
Speaking of where hockey comes from…GR is the only Canadian that we have around here, and I don’t think he even likes hockey.

Scott Niedermayer is my new favorite player. He’s so calm and focused. He’s an incredible skater. He has a killer playoff beard with some gray mixing in to show his age. He’s definitely on the NHL Jedi Council.
