I thought that Detroit would lose to San Jose. I really like Chelios, so I can live with it. Both conference finals should be great. I hope that both go seven games. I pick Anaheim and Buffalo. Then Anaheim will win the Cup.

I drove Jamie to the airport, and I missed most of the game. I walked in the door with about nine minutes left. Kind of a non-exciting goal by Detroit, but the only thing that matters is that the puck crosses the line. Brett, you must have loved being there. That place has to be buzzing during a playoff win like that. Shit, Marley can hardly contain himself, and he’s all the way across the continent.

I went to a graduation fiesta for my cousin at a local mexican restaurant right when the game started. When I got home I walked around the block with my dog. I came back in right before the overtime started. Now I’m waiting for the second overtime. I still get to see lots of hockey eventhough I missed the whole game. Go Sabres.
OK, not too much more hockey for me tonight. That second overtime didn’t go for very long. Great goal though. Damn Senators…took both games in Buffalo. Now they return to their lair in the Canadian capital. That’s where hockey comes from.
Speaking of where hockey comes from…GR is the only Canadian that we have around here, and I don’t think he even likes hockey.

Scott Niedermayer is my new favorite player. He’s so calm and focused. He’s an incredible skater. He has a killer playoff beard with some gray mixing in to show his age. He’s definitely on the NHL Jedi Council.
What? There’s a hockey thread? Why wasn’t I informed of this? I’ve been all over the NBA but I’ve been definitely watching lotsa hockey. It was mostly just the Red Wings games but I’m making sure to watch the Finals too (and it didn’t hurt that the Spurs/Utah games that were on at the same time were both ugly, boring blowouts). I gotta admit, they’ve both been some VERY entertaining games. Even with Anaheim dominating the third period of both games, Ray Emery’s been out of control in net. I had a feeling that whoever came out of the West would beat Ottawa and Buffalo and so far it seems right. Personally I’m amazed that Ottawa got this far so kudos to them.
As for my Wings? I’m somewhat pleased. Yeah, we coulda won those games that we dominated but the exact same thing happened to San Jose where they dominated US and we still got the win in Game 4. That’s just hockey. Frankly, I’m pleased because I didn’t expect them to be this solid at the start of the year and definitely didn’t expect to be this close to the Finals. It’s a bummer but at least we have lots to build on. I just wish Mattieu Schneider didn’t get hurt…that didn’t help our defense but, hey, it happens.
