I do enjoy being able to watch the band play, but as long as the sound is good wherever I’m standing is all that I ask. I’ve seen these four white boys enough where visually seeing them isn’t a priority.
I saw somewhere yesterday that the view of the band won’t be compromised by the layout, I don’t exactly know how that is, but we’ll see I guess
also, just saw on FB that GA Lawns (Field tix) will only be available through ticketmaster instead of Phish tickets, so I guess I’m not out that 150 bucks after all…
You can cancel it and re-order. ![]()
^see post above, I put in for GA only so it doesn’t matter anyways
but do you think that 3 day passes will be available at the gate if it turns out there aren’t many in the lot? seems like it would be an order in advanced kind of deal only, but I don’t know
Alright, so I wouldn’t exactly go and canel your PTBM order just yet. According to the update on Phish tickets, the lawn "ajacent to the venue will be open for GA lawn.
Chicago Update:
The Chicago Plan Commission has approved a reconfiguration of Charter One Pavilion on Northerly Island that will allow for the creation of a General Admission lawn area by opening the venue into the park adjacent to the existing venue.
GA Lawn tickets will be $45.00 ($120.00 for a 3 Day Ticket) and will be available for sale through Ticketmaster when the shows go on sale Friday, March 29th at 10:00am Central.
The tickets available via Phish Tickets are only reserved and GA floor. The GA Lawn tickets are not included in the allotments sold through Phish Tickets.
So, if you ordered through PTBM, the GA and reserved are for inside the actual venue, and the GA lawn available via TM will be for the ajacent lawn only.
The lawn will not have a view of the stage, and the sound may very well suck. It sounds to me like there won’t be any shifting of the venue, or moving the stage.
It will be set up as usual, but with one side (the south end of the venue) will be pushed back and fenced off to allow for the GA lawn.
I don’t know how to post a pic from google earth, but if I could (or if someone knows how) I would post it here and try to show you all how I think this is going to look.
Bottom line, I wouldn’t cancel your PTBM order just yet…
oh word, I didn’t realize there are basically gonna be two different sections of GA…I think they should probably clear that up a bit more, the shit I saw made it sound like they were just releasing tickets for the stands through PTBM
so there’s gonna be sections on either side of the stage? do I have that right?
![]()
Umm, can you tell me about the thing where you said all about the stuff???
WTF is going on? They should have released these a week later than everything else so it was 100% clear…

Basically the venue just went from being really intimate to being incredibly GIGANTIC. If you have ever been there it is pretty easy to picture… Just let me say this, if you dont nail down seats in the GA pit or in the bleachers, youre gonna be like a football field away from the band, no kidding. Hardest ticket of the summer just became the easiest!! WOWZERS!!

But what did I enter for, you know? I asked for tickets in GA, originally, but…
^See Clark’s post on the previous page. PTBM is only offering the “floor” GA and stands…none of the “cheap seats”.
So my entry into the PTBM means I will, at minimum, have “close” seats/standing room… Correct? ![]()
Assuming you “win” the lottery, yes. There’s no chance of getting stuck with the cheapies from PTBM.
I would like a seat please
Well, this looks like it could be a whole lotta fun! Very excited about this! ![]()
I, too, would like a seat please.
I like the Buffet is the first concert there, so they should have all the problems ironed out before the Phish weekend. ![]()
Now, to figure out where to park. I think the Soldier FIeld parking garage is going to be a royal bitch after the show, so I"m thinking McCormick Place parking is the way to go. A bit of a hike, but better than sitting in my car for 3 hours trying to get out, ala Alpine…
BTW…RIP Alpine.
BTW…RIP Alpine.

^^I have parked at McCormick place the last 2 times i have been here and both of the time they had little trolley car things that take people out to the venue
^^Combine the fact that there is a new 30k+ summer venue in Chicago proper, with the notion that Phish has not sold out Alpine for the since '04 (and that is skewed since it was to be their “last tour”), it would lead me to believe that Alpine has seen the last of Phish for a summer stop. All speculation on my part, but if this proves to be successful, it could be the end of Alpine.
Alpine only sees 2-3 maybe 4 big shows per summer (Buffet, DMB, Phish, and perhaps another big draw). And both Buffet and Phish are playing COP@NI this summer. With the majority of the attendance coming from the Chicago area, and a new 30k venue in Chicago, and dependant upon the success of this summer, Apline may be shutting down the summer shed.
Redunant post is redunant, I know.
^I am not sure the requirement to sell out the Alpine shows is as important as it used to be. I mean they state they can fill around 40+ thousand there and the past few shows have been way more comfortable at the 25+ which is a very good number for Alpine, IMHO…
While you do make a great point about the few other shows there, I’m curious what DMB or Buffet draw at Alpine…
If it is the end, what a classic venue with some STELLAR shows!
I do agree, it would suck, IMO, if Alpine is dunzo. It’s my home venue. But again, it depends on how NI goes. I might have a NEW home venue!
As for DMB and Buffet, I’m pretty sure that Buffet sells out each and every show.
And I know from past experience that DMB traditionally sells out both nights that they play at Alpine, even with a Chicago show thrown in there.
