Wow, just a brutal game last night. I was kind of pulling for the Cavs since I can’t stand Boston and it’s AMAZING how bad these two coaches are…
I mean Doc Rivers…it’s not what he does, it’s what he DOESN’T do. Ray Allen couldn’t shoot and doesn’t defend…why is he still in there? Worse, they have Leon Powe, PJ Brown, Tony Allen, and Eddie House all on their bench. These guys aren’t world beaters but they can all defend and could provide an offensive spark. They had this successful rotation ALL year that worked and the second the playoffs started, Doc has gone away from it. Even worse, he’s in love with Cassell though, for once, Sam’s me-first shooting helped them last night.
Then we have Mike Brown who is a FANTASTIC defensive coach, especially against teams who play in the half-court yet this guy desperately needs an offensive coordinator. For the millionth time, WHY IS LEBRON BRINGING UP THE BALL!!!?? Chris Webber and Charles Barkley were wondering the same thing on the post-game. I thought the pickup of Delonte West would be a good idea since he could run point and drive and dish to LeBron who would be single-covered but they’ve basically just used West as yet another shooting guard. I don’t get it. With LeBron on the key, the Celts were able to put four guys in zone to keep him from driving the ball which is easily his biggest strength.
Ug…the Cavs totally had that game and blew it due to their retarded offense. Between Mike Brown, Doc Rivers and Flip Saunders I don’t think we’ve ever seen three worse coaches for three talented teams. The only good one left is Stan Van Gundy and he just doesn’t have the players to be successful.
Of course, kudos to Garnett for FINALLY coming through with some clutch plays that actually involved him going to the basket and not firing up 18-footers. Let’s see him do it more than once now.
It was a fun game for a defense-nut like me but just painful to watch the bad coaching. Even with the poor shooting, LeBron should be used FAR better than he is.
