Official '07-'08 NBA Thread

^^What about Will Smiths foul on Nash last year, I wanted them to kick him out of the playoffs.

God, I HATE him and Bowen with a passion

I don’t mind anyone who plays some tough defense and isn’t afraid to nail a guy here or there if he deserves it. It’s old school. The stuff they consider “cheap shotting” nowadays is nothing compared to back in the day…

Okay I have some thoughts on the NBA, but I’m going to seperate them into two separate posts. First I was extremely disappointed that San Antonio advacned to the Western Finals. New Orleans was too inexperienced and worn out (which makes no since considering how young their team is). Everyone says look out for New Orleans in the future. While on paper this looks true, but man you gotta take your opportunities by the throat. They had San Antonio backed into a corner and choked. Look at the Clippers from a couple years ago. Weren’t they the team to watch out for in the future. One Elton Brand torn acl or achilles whatever it was and one nasty Shaun Livinston torn acl and they are back in the lottery. You never know what’s going to happen.

I am just so sick of San Antonio. I know I’m supposed to like them being from Indiana as they play the game the right way, but they bore me. I’m tired of their same old act. I have nothing against Tim Duncan in fact I like and respect him as a player, but do you even care what your doing out there dude. The most emotion I’ve ever seen him have is either barking at the refs or when he hit that three against Phoenix in round 1. Ginobli is ginobli. Flopper. Tony Parker is married to Eva Longoria. Did you guys know this? Hell the woman even cheer the Spurs becuase they have that player that is married to Eva Longoria. Oh don’t forget veteran headcase (insert Van Exel, Stoudemire, Finley, Barry, Rose). Didn’t they even pick up Vernon Maxwell one year? He could be the biggest case of all time. Mad Max. Then the enforcer I mean big shot specialits Robert Horry. At this point in his career he is worthless, but you still have to respect him at the end of ball games. And least but not last Greg Popovich. This pompous SOB. I guess I"m just over the Spurs. Go Lakers!!!

My other thought is concerning the Draft Lottery. Yeah Chicago won the lottery with a 1.7%. Does this surprise anyone? The Pacers had like a .8% of winning the lottery so I fully didn’t expect to win the lottery, but isn’t convenient or funny that Chicago won the lottery. I seriously think the lottery might be fixed. I mean why doesn’t the NBA not even show the ping pong balls being pulled from the machinge. What are they hiding? Hell every state shows their Pick 3s and 4 each week on local television, but the NBA does their lottery behind closed doors. Is Tim Donaghy in charge of the lottery? Stern will deny this until he is blue in the face, but New York getting Ewing in 85 and so on. Portland last year winning it was a long shot. At first glance this doesn’t look scandalous Portland winning the lottery, but look at the owner Paul Allen. Dude is still sitting on billions of Microsoft money that I’m sure the commish enjoys. At the very least it makes you wonder.

Chicago lucks into the number 1 pick. They already have an underachieving team. This is huge for them. If I were John Paxson I would be very busy this offseason umm getting rid of Kirk Hinrich or Ben Gordon to clear room for Derrick Rose.

I hears ya…I woke up this morning expecting the Heat to have it and then I saw where Chicago got it. WTF? Ghey.

You know who people should fear next year? The Trailblazers. They have a TON of young talent and a lot of valuable trade pieces. Plus Oden, of course.

My boy Freddy was representin’ the T’Wolves, which I thought was schaweet.

Nice stuff from Fee there…

As for the Spurs, I admit it…I’m a total Spurs slappy. I love how the team plays. Awesome defense, clutch shooting, great post-ups and defense from Duncan who is horribly overlooked as the MVP every year. (Though give Tyson Chandler MAJOR props for his great D on Duncan that series…hey, did you know the Bulls let him go for…oh…forget it). Popavich may be cheap but I think he’s light years beyond any other coach aside from maybe Phil Jackson…who else would even TRY to put Oberto on Chris Paul like he did at the end of Game 7?..And even more shocking, have it WORK? Don’t worry about the Hornets…they’ll be back for sure…they aren’t like that Clippers team. The Clips suck due to horrendous management, a terrible owner and bad chemistry guys that they bring in because they’re cheap and they never have the balls to make the easy trade they could do to make themselves a contender (why not get Arenas?) The Hornets will build around Paul for a while now.

As for the draft…eh…who knows with that crap. Some would argue the Sonics got the #2 pick last year because Stern is friends with Clay Bennett, the owner. The Bulls getting the pick seems a lil fishy for sure. By the way, who wants to bet that Paxson will assume that he already has a good PG in Heinrich and will instead grab Beasley over Rose? (Beasley has bust written ALL over him). I can’t wait to see that happen. Lord knows that Paxson LOVES his current team especially Heinrich and Deng.

By the way, is there anything better than seeing Larry Legend sitting at the lottery year after year? Just hilarious. God, he sucks as GM. Seeing Dwyane Wade there didn’t hurt either.

As for the Pistons?..Ug…oh well. Celts D makes them look ugly and Chauncey looked pretty rusty. If they don’t win Game 2, I’d say they’re in big trouble. I don’t see them winning the next 4 out of 5.

I’m pretty sure last night was Indiana’s first lottery pick since 1997, which would make last night’s lottery the first one held since Bird obtained a front office position with them.

So yes, to answer your question.

Larry was there last year as well…except he traded the pick to Atlanta for Al Harrington so he got to look like even more of an idiot since he didn’t even get to use the pick.

And, you’re right…he hasn’t been there as much mostly because Rick Carlisle coached his ass off to keep those terrible Pacers teams in the playoffs even when Larry would blow up the team every year and destroy any chemistry they ever had. And, of course, Larry rewarded him by firing him despite that his roster changed every year. Good times.

I will fart in Larry Bird’s general direction!

And this has happened before in the lottery. Most of you are too young to remember 1993! Or are you?

I remember that with the Magic. The year afterward they actually changed the percentages of each team so that the teams with a better record had an even worse chance of getting the top pick.

And I fart at Larry along with you. Fetchez la vache!

Dude,

As negative as I was leading up to this Pistons/Celts series, I can

Who’s Sean?

GO PISTONS!!!

I thought that was a great win, but not a great game.

We still had too many turnovers and the Ratliff thing pissed me off.

Steve Javey is one of the WORST refs in the league, but he called a fair game last nights, sans the Sheed Tech (what he fuck was that about?)

What a great statement game to make!

I hope we can win these two at home and close out the series in Boston.

My guess is, we split the two games at the Palace, win game 5 in Bean town, and come back to win game six at the Palace.

GO STONES!!!

GO STUCKEY!!!

not cool Neil, not cool

Aww…leave Sheed’s tights alone…he had a leg pull. Of course he didn’t have them for Game 2 and they won. Go figure.

By the way, I had NO idea that Hoiberg wasn’t playing anymore until I saw him sitting in for the T’Wolves. For some reason I thought he was still coming off the bench for them…even worse was that he retired like three years ago. Geeeezz…

And Javie’s not that bad at all…in fact he’s one of my favorite refs. Yes, he is liberal with the technicals but it’s mostly because he doesn’t like to take crappy from these whiny players and he really never favors one guy or another (Rondo got one later as well). I’m sure Sheed was getting on his nerves…he has a habit of doing that. Plus he’s the only ref on the planet who would give whiny LeBron a technical when he whines constantly. Outside of the technicals, he calls a VERY good game.

I don’t see us winning another game in Boston. We need to protect that home court with our lives and finish it in Game 6.

Stevo

If you are gonna say “whiny LeBron”… you must also put “whiny” before “Sheed” as well.

Yeah!

I saw Sheed when i was out to dinner a couple years back at Mario’s!
When the waiter was taking too long he let out a loud “C’mon Mayne!”
He recieved a technical for eating the his shrimp tails!
And when the waiter popped the Dom and hit his wife in the head, Sheed said “Cork Don’t Lie”

Must win Monday for the Pissed On’s! Which team will show up? The one that looks like they cannot be stopped? Or the team that played last night that initiated the softest zone iv’e ever seen in a game that important!

I’ll buy that for sure. He bitches as much as anyone…I said he deserved that technical in Game 2. He almost always deserves them.

And yeah…that Game 3 was pathetic. The offense got going early but the D was just pathetic, especially on guys like PJ Brown. Game 4 was MUCH better but then that horrible Danny Crawford kept the Celts in the Game with all those fouls. I don’t mind if they call it close but call it even, it’s all we ask. Once they finally stopped calling the ticky-tack crap in the 4th, the Stones pulled away. Tf they want to call it that close then Ray Allen should have been fouled out by the 3rd quarter with the crap he was pulling on Rip.

You said it…not only do we not know which Pistons we will get, we have no idea what Boston team we’ll get either. What a weird series…
