I think part of the reason Mason is so annoying to some folks is because half of the announcers in the business now try their best to rip him off. So now you don’t hear Mason just at Piston games, you hear him everywhere. The Cavs are the worst…I swear they’ve ripped off every part of the Pistons arena show that there is. And he only does the “Deeeetroit Basketball” a few times a game…I think he tries not to overkill it.
And I think we’ve known Garnett isn’t clutch since his days with the T’Wolves. He always disappeared at the end of games and always handed the ball to Cassell or Spreewell. He’s more of a defensive player anyway…he doesn’t play in the low block enough to get a clutch layup and if you need Garnett to hit your game-winning shot, then you’ve got issues. It’s always been this way but it’s like no one noticed until he got to Boston (obviously a lot of media didn’t bother watching T’Wolves playoff games).
And I HATE the white-out and I hated that the Pistons tried it in game 3…that’s a gimmick for Heat fans…not for the Palace. And you’ll notice you didn’t see a sign of it for Game 4 after that Game 3 performance. Now all we have to do is get rid of those horrible thundersticks and let people make noise on their own. Thanks for nothing, Anaheim Angels…those things are on YOUR heads.
And yeah…Brent Barry was fouled and that SHOULD have been called. It wasn’t a ticky-tack foul…Fisher just nailed him. You don’t ignore a foul that is that blatant. The worst was the TNT analysts saying that Barry needed to “sell” the foul. That’s just wonderful…we’re trying have LESS flopping now we have an entire group of analysts (including the King Flopper Reggie Miller) teaching kids to fling themselves to the ground to get fouls. Barry did the right thing and still tried to hit the shot despite the foul and, of course, he don’t get a call. Wonderful. Of course, if that was Kobe instead of Barry in the same position, they would have blown the whistle before there was ever any contact. Either way, the Lakers dominated the game so it’s not like they didn’t deserve it. Duncan looks tired…he was throwing up the worst half-assed layups I’ve ever seen…he didn’t even try to get better shots…that was poor.
And I’d talk about Game 5 but look here
Clearly the Celtics have already won the series. Oh well. What a bummer. I guess I’ll just play some Guitar Hero tonight instead…
