Whoa!

Kidd -> Mavericks!?

Lots of retooling in the West.

I wonder if the Cavs will follow suit to get Bron Bron some help.

I can’t believe Devean George is holding up this Kidd trade. Hilarious!! Except your fate George you are a roleplayer and now your a roleplayer on the 8th seed team in the East. If he holds up this deal I think the Mavs might be in some trouble. They’ll be keeping half of their roster their trying to unload. Think they’ll want to put forth effort?

Yeah I saw where Devean George has some odd clause in his contract that says he can veto a trade…and its a clause that’s only in effect this year (I’m not sure the extent of his contract, probably a 2-3 year deal).

I’ve always felt that Deveon George was a joker and is somewhat worthless but, to be fair, do you BLAME him? I mean for him personally he’s going from a potential NBA Finals team to a crappy New Jersey team where no one goes to the games and who has a chance at a first round exit. I wouldn’t want to do it either.

And to be fair, he hasn’t totally vetoed the trade…supposedly they’re still working it out. And frankly, he may have did Dallas a favor since they’re giving up WAY too much to get Kidd in that trade. And Devon Harris is one of the better young point guards in the league and you’re giving him up for maybe one or two good years with Kidd? Forget it. I like Kidd too but his best years are behind him and his defense has really suffered in the last few years. Dallas fans may look at this and thank George in a few years.

Anyone watch the slam dunk contest last night?

I ended up catching it from the beginning by dumb luck of the channel changing. And I am really glad I did. It was GREAT.

Dwight Howard first tossing it off the back of the backboard, jumping underneath and slamming it was amazing. Then the Superman cape was the icing on the cupcake that Gerald Green blew out.

All in all, it was great when I was expecting crap.

Definitely the best contest I’ve seen since probably 2003 or even 2000.

But the Superman one…he just threw it in the hoop…technically not a dunk but impressive nonetheless.

Hells yah!

Loved it!

Did anyone catch the sweet half time shindig yesterday?

IKO IKO was shiz nizzy! And when did Harry Connick Jr. become so sweet on keys?

Great game too! Closest all star game in a while.

Okay, back to the regular season!

I think it was right after he did “Little Man Tate.”

The introductions with the brass band was great as well.

All in all a very cool All-Star weekend.
Better than last year’s Vegas debacle.

The dunks were pretty fun. Strangely, everyone talked about the Superman dunk, but I thought that Dwight’s third and first dunks were even better. Especially that behind-the-backboard dunk. That was sweet.

Sadly, I didn’t like the rule where they HAD to use a teammate on one dunk. I’d heard about the stuff Jamario Moon had planned and I wanted to see if he could really launch from behind the foul line. Sadly he had to use a teammate for the dunk which made it nearly impossible.

I watched about the final ten minutes of the All Star which I usually don’t watch. Not bad…

Ben Wallace, Joe Smith, Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak to the Cavs? Don’t mind if they do!!

Who is gone?

Larry Hughes, I have been wishing he would leave for a while. He has been very solid of late though.

Drew Gooden. I am sad about this one.

Cedric Simmons. Who?

Shannon Brown. Sad about this one too. He seems to have a semi-good looking future, he just isn’t there yet.

Ira Newble. He has been a LOT better now than he ever has been. Not sad to see him go.

Donyell Marshall. Now I can’t make any more stoner jokes. Damn…

Have fun with Ben’s contract and Wally just ain’t the same Wally of old.

And as much as I HATE Drew Gooden, he was one of your key players.

Good thing you guys went for the big point guard you were trying to find.

To be honest, I think da bulls go a better end on this one.

I’m just glad we don’t have to guard Gooden anymore cause he used to light us up.

Fear the Fro Will!!

Oh, and I am pretty jealous that our 'Stons didn’t make a big deal, I think we could have really made a few moves with our bench.

I thought this for a second but after looking at it, I don’t know HOW we could say that.

Look at the Cavs. They gave up a bunch of lesser guys and maybe a few prospects…not big loss. Then they gave up Larry Hughes and frankly the Bulls did them a favor by taking him and his horrible contract off their hands…seriously Hughes has been useless for two straight years…not to mention he should have NEVER been playing point. EVER.

So in my mind the only major loss for the Cavs is Drew Gooden who was a good scorer and a solid defender.

But they got four SOLID players in return for basically one. Ben Wallace is on the decline but he could be motivated for another year or two and make that tough defense even tougher and they’ll lose offense but with LeBron who needs any? Wally and Josh Smith are both solid players who can get hot at times even if Wally couldn’t defend a steel chair. Wally is a poor man’s Gooden anyway so you still have that shooting threat. Shannon Brown, Ira Nuble, Donyell?..all these guy pale in comparison to those two.

But for me, the most underrated move is grabbing Delonte West. They finally got a REAL point guard! Look at those Cavs games…a lot of the time it’s LeBron himself who brings up the ball. Then it’s on him to decide whether to score or to find teammates…he’s often had trouble in balancing the scoring vs passing dynamic (he got blasted in last year’s playoffs for this a lot). He’s not like Magic…he can dish it but he’s not supposed to be a point guard. Now with West who is a solid young kid, LeBron can finally just play the 2 or 3 position and he can focus more on scoring a bit like he’s supposed to. LeBron’s never had a real point guard before to get him the ball. The Cavs certainly got better.

The Bulls? I don’t get it. Why would they want the worthless Larry Hughes?..he’s a decent defensive guard who can’t shoot…the same thing they have with Heinrich (who is certainly better than Hughes). Gooden will help the offense, I guess.

By the way, is it too early for me to bring up my “You should have kept Tyson Chandler instead of grabbing Wallce” argument or is the pain too much right now? Okay…I’ll wait.

As for Seattle? Eh…I think they’re just in full tank mode and are trying to dump all their assets for when they move the team. What a waste.

As for the Pistons, I still don’t get why Memphis traded Gasol to the Lakers for nothing when they could have easily gotten better deals from the Pistons or Bulls. Doesn’t make sense. I’d say it’s a conspiracy but then with Chris Wallace running the team, it’s likely that it’s just pure stupidity. I don’t get the Pistons trading one expiring contract in Brezec for another expiring contract in Juan Dixon. Though I guess he can help in the playoffs if the rookies (Stuckey and Afflalo) become shellshocked and can’t get it done. Extra insurance, I suppose…though I can’t remember the last time I saw Dixon do anything…I didn’t even know he was still in the league.

And am I the only who was shocked to see Adam Huluska in a trade? I didn’t even know he was drafted! Holy crap!

Either way, let’s just say that I’m cheering for the Magic. We need them to get that #3 seed and leave the #4 seed for the Cavs…that way Boston gets to deal with the Cavs in the second round and not us. I don’t think the Magic match up well with the Pistons so that would be a much more winnable series. Gooooo Magic!!

Cavs looked decent in a win…

with only six players that have practiced, and two players from the NBDL.

^
Yep, caught a lot of the second half last night.

Bron-Bron was only 2 assists shy of his THIRD consecutive triple-double. That’s impressive. And one guy they brought up from the NBDL jacked up over 10 threes.

I kept waiting for them to tell me who the last guy in the NBA to have 3 straight triple-doubles was, but the idiots never did. I’m assuming it was Kidd. It’s only been done, I think they said, 11 times before in the history of the NBA. Or something.

So Will, what do you think of the new-look Cavs? I think they dressed only 8 guys the other night because the 4 they got in the trade weren’t cleared to play or something.

That is correct.

I like them, and I think they looked exceptional on only 1 day of practice. Ben Wallace starting off his Cavs career with a double-double, gotta like that.

Wally and Joe Smith looked very solid down below as well. Delonte wasn’t too hot, but I think him just handling the offense is enough for me. Stats don’t matter that much to a position player like he seems to be in this offense.

There was a great photo of the four new guys and LeBron walking off the court in the Plain Dealer this morning… I am really loving this trade and it is only 1 game in.

As much as I love Drew Gooden, he seems to have been replaced by more players of the same/better caliber…

Pisotns looked like a championship team yesteday. Beat the Suns by 30!!!

And where’s b this year?

What? The Chi-town cows aren’t doing what you expected?

yah, watch out for T squared.

Fuck da bulls.

DEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEe-TROIT BASKETBALL!!!
