Cleveland

who?
Theo the Rattler shut down ol’ Z last week.
Too bad we won’t see them in the playoffs this year. But do me a favor LeBron, tire down the C’s a little before the finals so we can wipe 'em out.
Thanks

Did Chauncey climb up inside his ass again? :
Gawd…the Miami Heat are just horrible.
Every time I see a box score involving the Heat, they usually have anywhere from 60-80 total points and lost by anywhere from 20-30. This is every night, too.
Shaq’s gone, Wade is out, and Chris Quinn is getting a lot of playing time. That should tell you all you need to do right thar. At least they’ll have a really high draft pick in June.
Hey, I didn’t say that Big Z was a bad player or anything…he just looks kind of funny on that poster. That’s all. And kudos to him for finally shaving his head…that mess he had on his head last year was getting a little ridiculous.
And yes…I’d say that Operation: Avoid LeBron has gone quite successfully for the Pistons. They’re all but locked into the #2 spot and will get a much easier second round matchup against the Magic who I think they match up VERY well against. Let’s hope that Cleveland and Boston just beat the living crap out of each other for seven brutal games. Good luck guys…
Yeah, i saw them play the Pistons not too long ago and it was almost funny seeing guys named “Quinn” and “Barron” getting major minutes. Even funnier was how the Pistons were in full cruise-control for three quarters which the Heat led, then just turned it on a little bit to get the win at the end. Even better was last game when my boy Rodney Stuckey threw down 27 to take down Minnesota when Chauncey, Rip and Sheed were all sitting. Man, I love Stuckey. And I’m deathly afraid that Flip’s gonna bury him on the bench behind Lindsey Hunter and Juan Dixon who aren’t nearly as good.

3rd time’s the charm, Will!

The charm for who?
The Wizards to FINALLY beat us? ;D
Highly unlikely.
Anyway, time for my far-too-long NBA picks. Actually I’ll try to shorten them this year (yeah right). Seriously, the first round is usually kind of boring and the playoffs get better as they go but this year the first round’s gonna be awesome, especially in the West. I mean look at those series…Either the Suns or the Spurs are going to be out in the FIRST round!! CHAOS!!! Gotta love it!!
The best is how the last few years they’re doing a March Madness style where they have four Game 1s on Saturday and four on Sunday each one after the other which is a great way to start things off. I’ll be glued to my couch watching every damn one (well, except maybe the Hawks series)…it’ll be glorious.

#1. LA vs #8 Denver
I don’t give Denver a chance in hell of winning this series but this is going to be a HELL of a lot of fun to watch. Expect scores to go into the 110’s for both teams. Denver’s a throwback to the Alex English days where they score, score, score yet never play a lick of defense. LA is just solid all around and will be even better if Bynum can get fully integrated into things in this series.

#2 Nawlins vs #7 Dallas
Upset alert!! I’m calling it! You heard it here first. Dallas has been quite good ever since Dirk came back from his injury…even Kidd seems to be more comfortable with things. Nawlins is young, Byron Scott has always been shaky in the playoffs and I think Dallas matches up REAL good with them. Of course, there’s always a chance that Chris Paul takes over, abuses the hell out of Jason Kidd and averages a 27-12 for the whole series. But I’ll call the upset for what should be an awesome series. Hope you Bulls fans enjoy watching Tyson Chandler in this series…he’s become very similar to Ben Wallace who the Bulls dumped Chandler to get and doesn’t have anymore. Oh, irony. (Didn’t think I wouldn’t get a Bulls dig in, did ya? It don’t matter if they don’t make it in)

#3 Spurs vs #6 Suns
HUZZAH!!! The CAN’T-MISS SERIES!! Ginobli! Duncan! Nash! Shaq! Amare! Horry! Chaos! Explosions!! Love it!! Amare has been a monster with teams focusing so much on Shaq but I have a feeling that the Spurs won’t fall for that garbage and just play everyone one on one. Lord knows Duncan can play on Shaq OR Amare. The problem will be the rest of the Suns players including Nash and Amare who still don’t play a lick of defense…if the Spurs have an easy time scoring then they’re impossible to beat. Watch for Parker and Ginobli to go nuts.

#4 Utah vs #5 Houston
I love it since it’s a rematch of last year’s CLASSIC series where the home team won every game accept the Game 7 in Houston. I actually like Houston more without Yao but, of course, need I remind folks they’re coached by Rick Adleman? Utah is more of the same from last year…in fact they seem almost identical to last year’s team right down to wins, toughness and the same problems with the same players. Hilarious. So why not pick the same result?

Da East - Not as exciting in the first round. But that’s par for the course for the East. There’s the Top 4 and there’s the Bottom 4.
#1 Boston vs #8 Hawks
This gets my vote for “Most Unwatchable Series of the First Round.” Even worse, this is the 8:30 late night game on Sunday? WHY!!?? Seriously, Boston is better at basically every position except for maybe Josh Smith (who has quietly put together an amazing year) and they’re deeper. By Game 3, this series will be available to watch only on NBA TV, but at least the Hawks are back in the playoffs. Good for them.

#2 Deeeeeetroit vs #7 Philly
Might be weird actually seeing the Pistons playing their starters in the 4th quarter which hasn’t happened in a month. Should be a nice warmup since Philly is no pushover…they’re much improved and their young guys like Dalembert are starting to actually “get it” with Andre Miller playing very well. Even so, the Pistons big dudes should sway this series…Sheed’s been a man possessed all year long…he’s the true heart and soul of this team which is crazy since I was so damn pissed at him after his tantrum against the Cavs last year…I think Dumars straightened him out. Silly me…I’m a lover not a fighter…I can’t stay angry for that long.

#3 Magic vs #6 Toronto
The Raptors are basically a bunch of spotty shooters and Chris Bosh who is the only reason they win any games. Their big men are also incredibly useless, especially on defense…I think Bargnani spent the entire second half of the season on the three-point line. If the Raps shoot well, they can win…if not, they lose. Don’t buy all this upset talk…they’re not beating the Magic. Dwight Howard could average a 30-40 for the series and I wouldn’t be surprised.
Magic in 5
#4 LeBrons vs #5 Wizards
Is there anyone stupider than Gilbert Arenas? This guy doesn’t play for the majority of the year, his team bands together without him and plays as a team to get a decent seed in the playoffs and then it’s Gilbert who is running his mouth for a team that he barely played for. Seriously, Gilbert Arenas is the worst teammate ever…he’s a shoot-first guy who is a POINT GUARD who refuses to play defense and gets angry at his coach for even trying to emphasize defense!! That team is BETTER without him. And, don’t kid yourselves guys…there’s no “third time’s a charm” this this series. The Cavs are still good defensively and if they can hold the Wiz below 90 points, they’re going to win because they’re going to score more than that on the pathetic Wiz defense. LeBron could average 40 for the series…here’s to him schooling that loudmouth Arenas once again…he won’t let the Cavs lose this one.

Woooo!! Playoffs baby!!

What a flop! Stupid AK47. Pussy.
Cavs/Wiz series getting pretty chippy…NBA playoff basketball is here.
PHILTHADELPHIA!!!
keep it rollin 76ers.
No!
^Yeah, no crap. Way for the Pistons to not hit the broad side of a barn with that shooting. I knew the Sixers would give them trouble but I didn’t exactly expect that. And yeah, you can rip Sheed for fooling around in the Sixers huddle at the end, but considering that he was easily the best player for the Pistons that night, I can’t complain too much. I WISH Tayshawn would fool in someone else’s huddle if it meant I was getting that kind of production for him (by the way, he’s easily the LAST guy I’d want to take a game-tying shot. Good Lord).
-And Wow…I figured that the Rockets were better defensively without Yao, but the one thing that Yao provides (scoring) was the one thing they needed in Games 1 and 2. Ouch. Even worse was in Game 1 when they looked defeated with ten minutes to go and only down by about 10 or 12. They were already done.
-By the way, I can’t say I mind watching Cleveland shut the hell up that loudmouth Arenas. God, does he suck. I don’t think anyone’s ever run his mouth more and never backed it up more than Arenas. And yes, he’s coming back from injury but if you’re injured, shut the hell up. Even better was how he said that no one is a better end-of-the-game player than him, yet in the end of Game 1, he hogged the ball and threw up brick after brick yet LeBron was cooly hitting shot after shot (over Stephenson, by the way) to clinch the game.
And I’m sorry…Haywood should NOT be kicked out for that foul last night. I REALLY wish these refs would look up the damn rules on what a Flagrant-Two is. You only call those when there’s NO DOUBT of a VERY obvious attempt at injury. Everything else is a Flagrant One. It’s funny how people always say that you stop LeBron from charging the basket by “hitting him hard” or “knocking him to the ground” yet in two years in a row now both McDyess and now Haywood have been instantly kicked out of the game for trying it on LeBron…the league won’t let it happen. Reggie Miller said it…if that’s anyone other than LeBron, then it’s a Flagrant One.
As for Dallas…ouch…so much for my upset pick…they looked bad. Of course, I DID put in the caveot that Chris Paul could potentially abuse the hell out of Jason Kidd and score 30+ points a game.
And can they spare us the “Dirk is soft” crap? The dude was the only one hitting ANY shots in Game 1 and because West taps him in the face and he don’t respond, he’s soft? How about some teammates (many of whom ARE soft) backing up their frickin superstar? And anyone remember some no-name Kings playing PUNCHING Garnett in the face in 2004 and him doing nothing?..he’s not considered “soft.” It’s a case of these guys being deathly afraid that the refs will kick them out of the game and screw over their team if they retaliate. We just saw Amare and Diaw get suspended for leaving a frickin bench last year…you tell me that’s not in Dirk’s head? This is the league’s fault for freaking out any time two guys get in each other’s faces…not Dirk’s.
And mere moments before Game 1 started, I declared Suns/Spurs to be the Greatest First Round Series of all time without doing any form of research or taking any time to think. After Game 1, it’s hard to argue…the replays of that game do NOT do it justice. Don’t miss this series, folks. It’ll be FAAAANNNNNTASTIC!!
Stevo
It sure is!
I am embarresed to be a Suns fan right now… but I’m still wit em.
Don’t be embarrassed…
All the great teams get swept by the Spurs ;D
Is it just me or are the Spurs like the Lakers earlier this decade? Coast through the season and then turn it on and kick ass during the playoffs? The Suns were leading at halftime of both games and its like the Spurs said “Wait, what’s going on here? We’re the FUCKING SAN ANTONIO MOTHER FUCKING SPURS, BITCHTITS.”
LET’S GO PISTONS!!
Where’s b?
waits for it…
oh, the Bulls made horrible decision throughout the year and are now a lottery team, he’s waiting to see who they draft.
He also said he’s into Air Force 1’s now, that Jordan thing was a phase.
Like Jordans drivers license.
SHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEED!!!
