the undermind is even my skin on this site…so mellow
Sunday was a satisfying end to a rediculous weekend!
There was this moment during Bathtub Gin when Trey drops the lyric and all of us in the crowd yelled, “And we love to take a bath!” It was almost surreal.
I thought. “Yes, we are all in this together!” And then it slipped into that fantastic Undermind!
Things just began to get better and better. That Disease, my friends, was DIRRRTY. And that funky Twist! And towards the end where it got real spacey? Right before 2001? AHHH!
It doesn’t get much better than that folks!
word
did anybody else notice that Trey was staring at the Slave banner on stage left during the whole Slave jam? Those people must have been bugging out.
I really like Trey’s playing on Tube!!
I agree with all these comments about Undermind. Having never listened to the album, I have never heard this song before, and it seems like all I ever heard from anyone was how Undermind was a shitty album and the song was shitty also. Well, I have learned, yet again, to not let other people’s opinions about things shape my own opinions. That was a great song, and it was well played.
That being said, Foam was my personal highlight. A couple months ago, I went and saw a Phish cover band called Strange Design here in Birmingham. They played Foam, and I remember thinking to myself, “God, I wish Phish would play that song”, as Strange Design was covering a '93 show, and I figured Foam was a thing of the past. I was pleasantly surprised by Hampton, because not only did they PLAY Foam, they NAILED it. This show was truly a testament to the power of putting your mind to a task and accomplishing it.
Sunday was so kickass.
I’ll be listening to the first set of 3/8 tonight!
Zippity bop.
I know alot have mentioned this, but damn that Foam was almost flawless. Just sweet version. Loved the Sanity opener although I would loved an extended BOOOOOOM version, but hey beggars can’t be choosers.
