Official 6.10.09 Knoxville Thread

i’ve downloaded sbd’s for fenway and asheville… otherwise i’ve been just downloading the phishthoughts no spoilers mp3’s… put’em on my mp3 player in the morning and listen to the show during commute time to work and to/from clients all day. perfect!! plus those aud recordings have been great quality

tonight had to be best of the tour… from what i heard on the stream, how this looks on paper and knowing how their playing has been progressing. so psyched to hear it!

just got a call from hank. he said he was shaking from that show

^ correct. awesome

^ You could not have said it better!!..This looks like the one right here…2nd set Sickness indeed but look at that 1st set!! Only the 2nd Train Song of the decade I think and Mikes Hydro Groove, wow…

Not to be rude, but I could go as far as saying Set 1 - any song off undermind = one kick ass set. What can I say, I’m ‘older’ school.

Regardless, this looks like a nicey show foooo shoo.

maybe you need to give the undermind stuff more of a chance (or not. who am i to say?). personally i like the song Undermind more than say, Ocelot and could do with another 3.0 song since there are so many good ones that haven’t been played more than once or twice. but whatevs. it’s all gravy.

…dad?

Fair enough. I’m not sure what it is, I’ve given quite a bit of effort, seeing as Phish shaped pretty much my entire appreciation of music as well as Trey being my borderline idol, I just can’t get myself to like that stuff. Although, Round Room did grow on me a tiny bit. Ah who am I kidding, I haven’t liked anything since Story of the Ghost.

Yep…story of the ghost was the last album i really got into. I was off the radar when farmhouse came out, but it was ok also. Everyhting after that …meh… I do, however have some high hopes for this next album. Am I right in my assessment? I am for me, but everyone needs to find their own likes and dislikes. That will never change the fact that everyone here on this board is here for a reason. A pretty good group of musicians who may have a career ahead of them some day. tic

^Well said. The next album I am really looking forward to as well. I’m thinking more rocking chalkdust esque tunes. And again, just to reiterate I fucking love this band

just got back from the show, and let me tell ya’ll, i think this may have been the best show i have ever seen…ever

tears filled my eyes several times by the overwhelmingly powerful music they were making

Trey was on fire, no mistakes or flubs

each set climaxed several times throughout, leaving the audience raped by the awesome power of the phish

Best Phish show since 2000

Highlights: Waves >ASIHTOS transition jam, beautiful coil, epic energy-filled bowie

^ Not surprised. The boys are straight up steadily gaining speed. And I’m loving it.

FUCK YA! Im pumped!

phishrape’d

I think that was the best David Bowie I have ever heard in my entire life. No kidding.

I am just desperate to hear that second set… I’ll just have to be content listening to last night’s second set until tomorrow. (which I am, of course)

I’m insanely jealous of you guys who were at this show!

As far as the songs off Round Room and Undermind go, here’s my two cents: I know a lot of old school phans don’t really like those albums- fine. The thing is, songs off the older albums that we all love have been played live a million times, and most have evolved beyond what happened at the recording studio. I mean, there’s a reason we like our Phish live, right?

With the exception of 46 Days and Seven Below (and perhaps Mexican Cousin and Waves to some degree), none of the songs from the last two albums have seen a lot of audiences. So. I think it’s just fine to be less than enthusiastic about the albums, but I think it’s an incredible injustice to our favorite band to not keep an open mind regarding the appearance of those songs in setlists. How else are the songs supposed to evolve to their full potential?

/rant.

^Agreed, One thinks we should keep an open mind with songs that haven’t really had a lot of appropriate live exposure.

Undermind is a cool song, IMO.

text from Hank:

I still need to listen to Asheville so hopefully this will be in rotation by tomorrow. Very nice looking setlist.

Still no Curtain With or Crosseyed and Painless…heh.
