Official Summer Tourdate Thread

I’m completely indifferent about it.

Actually, that’s not true. I’m sort of upset. It’s like a bunch of people will be let in on our little inside joke that is Phish. Kind of makes me sad, but whatever.

When was the last time Phish played a U.S. festival when they weren’t the main act? H.O.R.D.E.?

Wait, it’s not 'Roo, it’s T-B arena on the UT campus.

It may be a forgone conclusion, but it’s NOT official yet.

I hope their goal is to upstage Bonnaroo by themselves.

^
Me too. And I am pretty sure HORDE was the last time.

I just hope they do their own festival at the end of the summer. Somewhere, I really don’t care. At least I know I would be able to get tickets.

please tell me you’re kidding.

at some point all of us had to be introduced to the music of Phish in some way… for some, it changed lives. i don’t see any reason to deny someone else of that.

everyone needs at least one chance to become cool.

That’s true, and I think a Phish show where they are the only act is the perfect way to do that.

The show won’t be the same (jamming, song selection, whatever) if they are performing at a festival with other artists.

Ain’t no place I’d rather be…

okay maybe that’s not true. I’d rather they’d play the Gorge or Red Rocks or something, but still…the sentiment is there.

you could be right on that… but who knows. i think the song selection will actually be pretty ridiculous, in a good way that is. i don’t think they’ll be afraid to go balls out and kick that crowd in the teeth

we’ll have to wait and see i guess

Our own inside joke?

Yeah, that’s what they are…lol

I told a couple buddies last night and they said that Phish swore off Knoxville in '96 because of too many cops or something. Anyone heard that?

And does anyone know what the deal is with a Knoxville lottery?

^It’s a separate lottery. I’m pretty sure we’ll know whether or not we’ll get Knoxville by Valentine’s Day.

weell i hate to say it but it looks like im gonna have to go to bonnaroo. so if all goes as planned ill be lookin at Asheville > Knoxville > bonnaroo

i cant tell if youre being serious neil? (your name is in a bunch of threads, IM NOT A STALKER)
i hope phish blows everyone else out of the water.

In this instance, I was being serious.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’d be totally sweet if Phish played a raucous set and blew everyone’s minds. But at the same time, I hope they don’t play a “safe” show because of where they’re at and who their audience is. FWIW, I am in no way labeling Phish as “sell-outs” or whatever. I don’t think that’s what they’re doing.

Being a Phish fan, I’ve sort of enjoyed this separate reality that Phish provides. Free of tools and d-bags and people who like crappy music. Playing Bonnaroo, to me, makes the portal to that reality just a little bit bigger for “other” people to step through.

I think I am being selfish more than anything. Oh well.

^ i understand what you’re saying, and a part of me identifies with that feeling… like sometimes with friends of mine that either don’t know much about phish or don’t like them, it seems like i know something they don’t, as if phish is the best band that the average person will never know about…

but i’ll back up a bit. free of tools and d-bags?? hardly. i’ve had run-ins with PLENTY of those over the years at shows. i wish there were no Todds at phish shows! that’d be a blessing.

i’ll also agree that i hope they don’t play a “safe show”… that would suck

i dunno dude… you shouldn’t have to point out that you’re not one. kinda creepy

True, there are certainly tools and d-bags at Phish shows. I was mainly referring to the people I happened to interact with on happenstance. It seems like all my chance encounters with strangers have been tool and d-bag free. Maybe I’m one of the lucky ones…
At other concerts, I’m sure there are nice people, but perhaps a higher percentage of un-nice people (mainly cuz they’re drunk or just dickheads in general).

^ Nothing is worse than being in the crowd at a Panic show and bumping into a drunken, fratboy douche bag.

I agree with you. As selfish as this is, I would rather, as you said Neil, keep Phish as our own private joke.

a safe phish show would be a great show. it woulld still blow away most bands.
