Official Summer Tourdate Thread

Wow. I haven’t been this excited since Summer Tour '98 was announced. As much as I would love to revisit Red Rocks, I can’t imagine it being anything other than total disaster, so I am setting my sights on the Gorge shows. Does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look for what day they are opening the campgrounds? If it’s Thursday, I’m there, if it’s Friday, I’m going to have to look into chartering a helicopter, as sitting on that entrance road in the blazing heat for 5 hours is not an experience I would care to repeat. Sincere thanks to anyone who replies, you guys appear to have a great site going here, look forward to being with everyone on tour!

I agree with this statement, Phish is money and they are in the business of melting faces. They most certainly are getting back to business.

Only the Island Tour shall bear a ‘tour name’

Right back at it, over 4 and a half years later!

I always thought the band should hand you a doobie and a book of matches when you enter the lot…

I’m not opposed to the substitution of an S with a $

No love for '86? ???

^ ZING!

I’m just thinking…what if someone said to me “Oh, that Devin only sells advertising for the money”? I don’t think I’d be offended. Nor do I think Phish would be offended that someone would think that they are doing their jobs for the money either. They do have families to feed. The thing is, I’m happy doing what I’m doing, they’re happy doing what they’re doing…why would anyone not be happy about any of that? Just because you make money doing what you do, does not mean that what you are doing is a bad thing. I don’t think they’ve ever done a “for charity” tour.

Whatever…I guess no one agrees with whatshisfaces sentiments anyway…I’m just kind of rambling.

It’s a real drag that we use money to represent the value of goods and services, but I think Phish provides a service that is quite valuable. They also have chosen to keep their ticket prices at a pretty low market value to keep things affordable. I was reading that the face cost for the best seats to Madonna’s current tour is $350. Phish would have no problem charging more than that.

glad to have ya JJB! welcome to the 'Pa

i’ve never been to the gorge, so i can’t help ya there. but i will ask another question:

is camping included in the ticket price or do you have to purchase a pass for that seperately??

I bet they will let you in Thursday night. That’s what they did in '03. We had to deal with a bunch of fans there to see Counting Crowes w/ John Mayer. Conversations were like this, “are you here for Phish?”

They would respond, “no, we are seeing counting crowes.”

End of conversation.

My experience with the Gorge is limited, but when I saw the Dead there in '04, they played on Saturday July 3rd. We showed up at probably 2AM on the 3rd and the Campgrounds had been open since the day before…July 2nd. When we pulled up they said “Do you have a camping pass?” We said, “Camping pass?” They said, “Yeah, it’s $30 per car. If you don’t have one we can sell you one”. So that’s how she went.

So the campground will probably be open the day before the show and you should look into securing a camping pass before you leave as it is not included in the price of your ticket.

^ thanks devin… primo info there!

that was great.

welp, there goes my summer and hopes of buying a house in the fall

Save Red Rocks from annoying East Coast Fans.

You people from the East Coast are the reason that Phish was banned from Red Rocks 13 years ago. So please don’t come this time.

I beg the Phans in Colorado to keep your extra tickets and sell them ONLY to Phans who live in the Rocky Mountain area.

Again when you get extras, do not sell them to people who are coming in from out of state. Especially people from Boston, New York, New Jersey, and Philly.

People on the East Coast have way more opportunities to see Phish than we do in Colorado. Red Rocks is a tiny venue compared to others that the band will perform in this summer. It will be a shame if all the East Coast Phans gobble up all the tix while all the Colorado Phans get shut out. I won

Here is to hoping you get 0 tickets!

Not going to happen!

^^This isn’t just my hate of the Avalanche talking (not that it’s an issue anymore). Denver has been the crossroads for tours 4ever. You guys get every band coming and going. Phish is playing 4 nights so everybody who really wants to can go to at least 1 night. Colorado has always been a vacation destination for the hip and athletic (even though the snow is better in Utah). Colorado until recently enjoyed a liberal reputation and was known for it’s chill populace. It was the local paranoia, mixed with inadequate planning, and heavy handed law enforcement that led to Phish getting the boot. I’m afraid 4 days at Red Rocks will be similar to '96 no matter what. It’s up to logistics to make it a success.
As to wishing kids don’t get in; that’s the kind of egotistical entitlement speak that trips up so many people these days. I tried to find a modicum of usefulness out of your post but alas it’s drivel from the mountain top. Must be the wrong mountain.

The Phish fan base is mobile at it’s core. They will go anywhere to see their band. If you don’t want east coast kids at Red Rocks then make an avalanche across 40 or something. Otherwise you might want to get out of the way because they are coming despite you.
