CU seems to be a highly desired place to go to school these days. I mean, their student body is 32% out-of-state, which is pretty damn high for a major state university. I have heard people say, “I wonder why all these people want to go to Boulder so bad.” My answer is, go to this link http://www.colorado.edu, and look at the picture. I heard a rumor a few weeks ago that Phish might play Bend, OR between the Gorge & Chicago dates (most likely on August 9th). Anyone heard anything new on that?
Also the end of summer festival Georgetown, Texas? (because the video from the summer tour announcement zooms into Texas). This makes sense because they’re not playing Texas this the summer and the video clearly zooms into somewhere in TX. Sorry if this is old news but I haven’t heard anything about it. Texas would be a nice change from all the Northeast Wents, IT’s, Balls, etc.
This festival thing could be a great idea, but if they’re doing it, I don’t see why they would wait much longer to announce. I mean, everyone’s making their summer plans if they haven’t already made them. I am holding out for a little while before I buy my Rothbury ticket to see if they announce this, because I would obviously drop everything for a Phish fest.
Isn’t it kind of early to announce, though? I mean, how often have they anounced tour dates 6-7 months in advance liek they did this year? Lots of the particulars of this summer’s tour date announcements have been weird to me. The TX fest would be end of summer. I haven’t been following the dates of the other fests but I thought they were earlier than that.
I have to say, I might be a little out of the loop, but I don’t think it’s late for them to announce the end of summer thing. If anything it could be slightly early. We’d still have about 6 months to prepare.
Let me tell ya, Phish is not going to have a festival in Texas. It would be a complete disaster and they know it. 100+ degree weather, the worst cops in the country, the lamest people in the country, the ugliest state in the country, I mean there is just no way. The zoom in thing on the website from what I understand, they just paid some guy to put a giant 09 in his field. I am pretty sure there is no meaning behind it, we Phish heads just like to over analyze every little detail, which for the most part is a positive quality.
I know, I know… I should know better, too. I’ve been harassed in Texas every time I’ve been there. I got a urinating in public ticket from a cop on a road that looked like the set of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. I had a beer bottle thrown at me from a passing vehicle, and twice told to “cut your hair and get a job” by guys with no teeth (when, in fact, I had just cut my hair to shoulder-length and was employed at the time). I think it’s fun to fuck with redneck assholes and take over a city. Apparently the cops don’t feel the same and neither do hippies. It would be an adventure, though. That’s for sure.

No but seriously, as a resident of one of the most often stereotyped states in the country, I know what it feels like to have generalizations like this ^ dropped on me and my fellow Alabamians. Not so good. All I’m saying is, Texas as a state may be mostly conservative and sure, it has some rednecks, but really, a Phish festival in Texas would be just fine. What are they gonna do, raid the whole festival? If, on the other hand, Texas does not want the festival, bring 'em to Alabama! We have more than a few big ass empty fields we could do it in.
