‘Eyeballing’ Fad has Teens Pouring Vodka into Eyes

Vodka eyeballing. It’s the latest drinking fad on YouTube, and it could cause blindness.
Hundreds of online videos that originated in the U.K. show teens pouring vodka directly into their eyes, straight from the bottle. The videos are getting hundreds of thousands of hits, MyFoxDC.com reported.
Substance abuse expert Mike Gumbel claims kids aren’t eyeballing to get drunk faster, but do it when the effects of alcohol have already set in and impaired their judgment. Eyeballing is more of a prank than a way to become more intoxicated.
“They’re not doing it to get more drunk, they’re doing it as part of a fad. ‘I dare you to do this,’†Gumbel said.
Robert Stutman, president of the Maryland Optometric Association, said eyeballing can be very damaging to the eyes. Vodka is 40 to 50 percent alcohol and can burn and scar the cornea.
“It probably could [cause blindness] if it caused severe enough scarring of the cornea,†Stutman said.

(June 18) – Sarah Palin says recreational pot smoking is “relatively speaking a minimal problem” in America.
In an otherwise uneventful appearance on the Fox Business Network with Rep. Ron Paul, R-Texas, Palin said that while she doesn’t believe marijuana should be legalized, the country has bigger fish to fry.
“I think we need to prioritize our law enforcement efforts,” she said. “If somebody’s gonna smoke a joint in their house and not do anybody any harm, then perhaps there are other things our cops should be looking at to engage in and try to clean up some of the other problems we have in society.”
Allen St. Pierre, the director of NORML, which supports liberalizing drug laws, said Palin’s position on pot is perfectly in line with her identity as a politician.
“If you’re a populist as she appears to be, it’s maybe not that surprising,” he told AOL News in a phone interview today.
But has the former Republican vice presidential candidate ever lit up a joint?
You betcha. In Alaska, it was legal to smoke small amounts of marijuana until four years ago, and Palin has said that she’s tried it but didn’t like it.
“I can’t claim a Bill Clinton and say that I never inhaled,” she told the Anchorage Daily News in 2006.
^ See, I never would have expected that, but for some reason, at the same time, it’s not that surprising. This is fantastic. When you have people like Palin who will admit that weed is not a big deal, you know shit’s going in the right direction.
For the record, I would totally smoke a joint with Sarah Palin. Not that I’m a fan of hers, but it would be really funny to see her blazed.
well…i’m a pretty tolerant guy, and to each their own and all that, and kids will be kids and such…but if one is pouring alcohol into one’s EYES, does one not then maybe deserve a touch of blindness?

‘Ferris Bueller’s Day Off’ Star Arrested After Failing to Re-Register As Sex Offender

“Ferris Bueller’s Day Off†star Jeffrey Jones has been charged with a felony after failing to update his registration as a sex offender in California, the L.A. Times reported Wednesday.
Jones, 63, was arrested last week on suspicion of failing to renew his registration within five days of his last birthday, Sept. 28, 2009, the Times said.
In 2003, Jones was placed on five years probation and was ordered to register as a sex offender, in addition to mandatory counseling, after he pleaded no contest to inducing a 14-year-old boy to pose for sexually explicit photographs.
According to the Times, Jones twice paid the boy to pose nude for photographs at his Hollywood Hills home. Court documents reveal he had the boy pose in various costumes, including a cowboy hat and as an Indian.
Jones, who is best known for his role as Principal Ed Rooney in “Ferris Beuller’s Day Off,†also appeared in “Beetlejuice,†“The Devil’s Advocate†and “Amadeus.â€
