OKP Past It's Prime??

??

Nothing seems to happen here anymore. Many of our more veteran members barely ever or never post here anymore, and although we’ve gotten some great new members recently like augustus and esther, the lack of activity continues. Its hard to look at PT, where each hour there are hundreds of new posts (albeit half of those posts are gross-out posts or put-downs or “noob” posts), and then come here after few hours away and see that nothing has happened. I know by far the biggest reason for that is they have thousands of members, but, I don’t know…I just wish more was happening. I guess Phish not being a band anymore has something to do with it as well.

Have we run out of things to talk about? Its possible, I guess.

I know its not the end of the world…things are always changing, just thought I’d throw this out there and see what everyone thinks.

Man, we’re just a smaller tighter community than PT. I don’t think Phish not being a band anymore has anything to do with it as I don’t think this board was even started until after they broke up. Sometimes I’ll post all day, sometimes I won’t even turn on my computer all day. It’s nothing to do with a lack of love for this board, it’s just that people have lives outside the OKP as well, I think.

I’m really glad theres not 100 posts per hour, I would get pretty frustrated trying to keep up. I think most of the veteran members post a lot, if not a bit too much. Look at how many posts Will or Neck or G2K or Greg or Icc have…these are your veterans. I feel like I post a hell of a lot and I don’t even have half as many post as Will. Sure, we all have a slow week or month or whatever here and there, but we always come back.

^true. I think I notice it more since I’m almost always on the computer, whether I’m at work or school or at home. I understand people have lives outside of the ohkeepa, lol, its just that a good portion of my work and free time is spent at a computer, and therefore I am almost always checking in here.

Here’s the thing. The Oh Kee Pa is a smaller, more mature community. I feel like most of us don’t just sit online all day and post our hearts out. It’s not that we have nothing to talk about, it’s just that Phish and the various things related to Phish don’t run our lives. We have other interests and bands we like.

I have noticed that the OKP is slow lately. In fact, I actually thought “man, the board is as slow as I’ve ever seen it since I’ve been a member.”

But…to answer your question: no.

The winter doldrums are beating down and we’re all suffering the effects. The OKP will never die. EVER. It will pick up before you know it.

Things vary from time to time in most things. The first month I registered I didn’t really post anything. Lately, I’ve been posting more and more, but I know when I have a bunch of things to do I won’t post that much again, until I have a bunch of free time on my hands, then I’ll head to ohkeepa land once more.

Are we becoming caricatures of ourselves?? Is OKP a nostalgia act???

FUCK NO!!!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Its a fair question, lol.

ah what the hell was I thinking. Just some Sunday morning rambling thoughts.

We’re still peakin’, with no end in sight.

how cool would that be to be able to actually break the internet?

just throwin that out there…

it’s been slow since the hollidays

when trey was doing his nye run and the cali run there was a lot of discussion, but none of the band members are touring, thou i like to bullshit, i mainly like to discuss the music

winter is upon us, this weekend i did nothing, so im thinking to myself “why don’t i go on the computer and see whats up at the Oh kee Pa”, but then I just end up watching more TV or playing guitar, nothing against anything thats going on here, it’s just that im infront of the computer all day at work, so on the weekends, i don’t like to be on the computer, ocassionally i’ll log onto AIM to see if any buds are around, but even now, as I get older, there are fewer and fewer people to chill out with. alas, im back at work and back on the pa,

That’s just the way it is
Some things will never change
That’s just the way it is
But don’t you believe them

Last Friday night, I got together with Will, Ian and Neck to talk openly about the strong feelings I’ve been having that the OKP has run its course and that we should end it now while it’s still on a high note. Once we started talking, it quickly became apparent that the other guys’ feelings, while not all the same as mine, were similar in many ways – most importantly, that we all love and respect the OKP and the OKP audience far too much to stand by and allow it to drag on beyond the point of vibrancy and health. We don’t want to become caricatures of ourselves, or worse yet, a nostalgia act. By the end of the meeting, we realized that after almost two years together we were faced with the opportunity to graciously step away in unison, as a group, united in our friendship and our feelings of gratitude.

For the sake of clarity, I should say that this is not like the hiatus, which was our last attempt to revitalize ourselves. We’re done. It’s been an amazing and incredible journey. We thank you all for the love and support that you’ve shown us.

^ Why can’t you just tell everyone that the reason the board has been so slow is because you’re on drugs?

Its what I was afraid of, I stumble into view, but it isn’t nearly fast enough for you…

^^^^^LOL

THREAD OF THE CENTURY :stuck_out_tongue:

Y’know, I’ve done the “change Trey’s announcement message” joke a couple times on here…

Like a thirty year old woman fresh from the sweaty constraints of a Swedish sauna, we are in our prime.

These are the days, my children.
