Old school vinyl people!

I really miss that old vintage sound of the old vinyl record players from growing up as a child. I would like to get an old style record player for myself, since vinyl here is very cheap and easy to get at many thrift stores, etc…

What is a good brand to get? Any good links? Suggestions? Hints?

I there is a “Vinyl” thread somewhere on here… try searching for it…

Stanton and Technics both make quality turntables.

i bought one that i can import to my mac as well. it was around $150 i think and it works great through my normal speakers as well.

Vinyl is great!

I’d recommend technics. The standard DJ deck is very reliable and quite affordable these days. Definitely avoid a cheap alternative. Although I have no evidence to back this up, I am certain that cheap record players damage your vinyl. Another thing to remember is replacement parts, ie styli. The technics turntables are popular enough that you shouldn’t have too much troublle finding repalcement needles. A good turntable will also last a good long time too, much longer than a CD player.
