I just started listening to the second show and man these were great shows, 19+ min. gin
and that whole mini del mccoury band set was amazing

was anyone at these shows?
my buddy was and he is the one who gave me these discs and man i wish i made it.

my friends car died in the driveway as we were about to pull out to drive up from long island. i ended up taking a greyhound which took 100hrs. we had to hitch toward the end, but it was well worth it. i had an amazing time.

the 2nd set from the 2nd night is one of my favorite seen or heard. (Runaway Jim -> Free, The Meatstick, Guyute, Axilla, Llama)
i wish i had a better recording. all recordings ive heard sound like they were underwater. thats numerous sources too. anyone have a good one?

^ill listen to it and get back to you
its in my car right now

You know one thing I love about Phish is that everyone has varying opinions on the shows/sets…etc. For example the set you mentioned as your favorite from Oswego I thought was the worst set of the whole festival.

^ That Runaway Jim is stellar but after Free i agree the set fizzles and the LLama was not enough to ignite the flame again.

I always wondered why so many people put the apostrophe on the outside rather than the inside.

It was really hot, and the weather was pretty warm too!

maybe a big part of me enjoying that second set so much was the fact that i was dead center about 15 people deep. being that close probably hightened experience. great memories from that whole weekend.

i remember intense heat. the rain tents became refuge from the sun. ended up waiting and praying for the sun to go down.

i also nearly crapped my pants when they segued into ‘have mercy.’

I liked the Camden Fluffhead more. Being able to scratch Icculus off your to do list was priceless. Guelah was a gift, Quinn was total bustout/copout. I do remember the chill that crossed the crowd that hot afternoon as Have Mercy was identified. I was pretty tired out by then. I chilled about 30 yards out stage left 1st night, and maybe 40yards out second night on that little hill. I was contented by finally breaking even for the last 12 shows, and recuperating from my Great Woods B-day, and kille 1st night of Holmdel.

The motor cycle taxi’s were great. We were in a crapper line and Mike pulled up in his golfcart. He inquired about our experience, and the guy in front of me offered his “toilet condom” which was a cardboard ring to Mike in case he might need it. Mike gave a sour look towards the port-o-johns and drove off. I took a crap “hovering” like your supposed to and then jogged back to my campsite which was 1 of only a few shady spots near the airstrip.

I rescind my previous statement about Quinn The Eskimo. I thought Quinn was a great idea. In the spirit of The Grateful Dead for that last U.S. stop. It could have been U.S. Blues, and still have given that great nostalgic feeling. That circus feeling, That psychedelic hoe down that the Dead became famous for. Phish carries the torch well. Advancing on that original hippy concept’ Phish has brought crowd consciousness to similar peaks as G.D… On a run where a Phan had most likely seen some beauts like Fluff, Ridiculus, Guelah, Have Mercy, Timber etc… To throw that song in there makes sense in hindsight.

i LOVE the tweezer->have mercy->taste. thats some good shit.

Hot… Damn Hot.

The Son Seals jam was a hi-lite for me.
