Our President

^ Sorry man, not trying to be offensive and I’m not making fun of you, personally. Just making light of the whole silly situation.

What are you saying? Mandatory private insurance? What did I miss?

YES, as detailed in Matt Taibbi’s new article on healthcare in Rolling Stone or read the article free on line by googling: healthcare, Matt taibbi, Keep in mind this guy is a liberal ta boot

Do I need to post Rachel Maddow exposing Obama continuing indefinite detention as well?

Jeez.

^ I’m not really sure what you’re after. You seem to think that we should all agree with you, and if only we had all the information, we would do so automatically. That is, in a word, wrong. Your head is filled with assumptions about those who don’t share your views. Where do you get the idea that having progressive values means blindly agreeing with everything any Democrat does or says?

I campaigned against McCaine in Ohio before the primaries, did you see this car:

pulling this trailer:

^^^I didn’t read it, yet, but what I think what you’re not elaborating on here, Thnkfrstpal, is that it would be mandatory to have private insurance or the public option. The reason for this is so the hospitals/doctors/nurses/administrators get paid, which will eventually drive down the amount the government/insurance cos/consumers pays for HC.

I agree with thnkfrstpl in that I’d like to see more people get behind Dennis Kucinich or Ron Paul.

No sir, the public option is now off the table as of last week in 4 out of the 5 bills bouncing around Congress and according to the Taibbi article.

What am I after?

It’s not about agreeing with me, it’s about the fact that

These wars are wrong
Nafta is wrong
Patriot act is a fraud
Fisa is criminal

You do agree with the above right?

I mean come on!!

Everything government has touched in the last 50 years just gets worse. I hate both parties, I like the Kucinich / Paul approach above. At least they are somewhat different from the uneducated drones that currently run the country. I want strict term limits - 1 term presidents, 4 yrs for a senator, 4 yrs for a congressperson (just to match the senatorial / president term length). There should not be any “czars”, or atleast I cannot think of a reason that they are necessary. Keep things changing, and maybe we can get away from the ridiculous partisan crap we get shoved down our throats every day - on the wars, on socialized medicine, on all of the endless spending and pandering.

That, and institute public campaign financing - make lobbyist donations illegal and apply very stiff penalties for the breaking of the rules.

I now step down from my soapbox…for now.

Emmett said earlier in this thread that America has a consciousness problem. That is correct, however it applies to all of humanity.

I have one of those except it got all switched up and I got to watch Obama whack it.

In Iraq… no.

In Afganistan…

I think a combination of special forces operations and funding of social infrastructure (schools, roads, clinics) would be more effective and morally acceptable than the current paradigm.

And yes, I do think that it is ethical for us to conduct surgical strikes against Al Qaeda.

^and in your mind why is the commander in chief NOT doing that?

Hopefully, he will be trending that way. I think that Obama is pretty good at managing his political capital. I think he understands that he needs to be strategic about his agenda.

Then again, there are areas where I disagree with him (namely, education), and this may be another. I don’t have to be in total agreement to support his administration. I’d rather support and lobby him and the Democrats than denounce them and do nothing.

I really want to argue this point. But, if I do, it’s just “yet another tax-n-spend liberal who loves big government and massive pork programs etc etc.” :frowning:

So, right on. I’mma eat an apple, and finish listening to the Gorge show :sunglasses:

Good one, Zoot.

Do you think your being realistic based on the fact that Northrop and Boeing and the weapons makers and bomb makers have more lobbyists and money than the citizens? And I believe that I read in the last month in the times that Obama wants to send 20k-50k more troops there very soon.

How long in your estimation should we wait and hope and lobby in your opinion?

If your wrong, what then? Do we go through another election and vote for the next corporate sponsor? What would you suggest?

I believe that he has more integrity than that. I think that he plans to surge and stabilize, and then adjust toward a strategy based on infrastructure projects (hearts and minds). I could be wrong though.
