Page in Philly

i was just about to post this, saw the link over at jambands.com and had to post it for all the North Easters on here

http://jambands.com/News.phtml?newsfile=redesign_news314.html#3-22-33

i signed up, i still have to check my email to see what the deal is

It says it is only a 45 minute set on the radio station’s website. I signed up but am hesitant cuz it will be a multiple hour ride for me coming from N. Jersey.
I don’t know if it is worth it…especially since I will be going by myself. I work nights, so it is cool for me to take a drive up on a work day but my girl just started a new job and take off to check it out with me.

She is the only other head I know in the world!!!

Ahhhhhhhhh!

You can stream it off their site too

Nothing like live, but I can’t make that so I’ll listen.

Well, Jaw, if you had moved to Boston and you weren’t so scared of the snow, you may of been able to hit it up.

Here’s the response I received from the World Cafe Live web site. One thing that bothers me is the chance, after driving 90 minutes, that I might get turned away because of overbooking. I’ve got to think this one out…

Thanks for signing up for the March 30, 2007 XPN Free at Noon at World Cafe Live featuring Page McConnell of Phish.

Doors open at 11:30am. Plan to arrive early and take public transportation if possible, as parking in University City is limited. Please allow enough time to get to the venue, sign in, and enter the performance area by noon.

If this is your first Free At Noon show, or if you are not sure of the admission process, please review the important information below about what you can expect when you arrive.

You will need to check in at the registration table. If you have signed up for two (you and a guest), please meet up with the other person BEFORE signing in so we can check both of you in at the same time.

Signing up online for a Free At Noon show gives you priority standing, but does NOT guarantee you will get in. We typically overbook for each show due to anticipated no-shows. We have done pretty well estimating the total number of guests who will attend, however when a very popular artist is performing, we sometimes have to stop admitting people (even if they signed up in advance!) once we reach the maximum occupancy of the venue. This is a rare occurrence, but please know that it can happen.

If we are below the maximum number of occupants in the venue at noon, and no other pre-registered guests are waiting to gain entry, we will admit guests who did NOT pre-register. This will be done on a first-come, first-served basis.

We look forward to seeing you at World Cafe Live for another WXPN Free At Noon Concert!

Please note that no professional cameras are permitted in the venue.

Here is your confirmation:

If someone in the Philly area is really sure they want to go, I could be convinced of handing over my confirmation number. PM me if you’re interested.

Hey Sage, you said you would give your confirmation number to whomever needed it…is the whole show booked already?
I already have a con. # but I was just curious if the show was “sold out”?

That’s fucking nasty.

End of story.

It said on their web site this morning that it was sold out. When I attempted to get tickets, it would not let me get 2 at that time last Friday night when I tried. But when I reduced my request to 1, it acknowledged it right away. So I guess it’s safe to assume it’s sold out.

I mean, if the doors open at 1130, and they’ve overbooked, then I guess there will be a hefty line starting to form an hour or more before the show. I don’t think I’m willing to put up with that for 45 minutes of Page.

i too have conformation, still undecided if i will be going. I have conf for 2, but would have to take off work on friday. I think im gonna leave this one up to the weather, if it’s a beatiful spring day im going to go, if it’s overcast and rainy, i will not be going.

i just don’t much feel like using a sick day for page alone for 45 min’s, but if it is nice out I won’t mind b/c i could then hit up fairmount park for some frisbee golf and or some boozing on south street.

time will tell, keep an eye to the sky

Well, I just got word from my budddy who is not a Phish fan or a good music fan (he likes Justin Timberlake) that he would take the ride with me.
That was the deal maker.
If worse comes to worse and I can’t get in, we plan on hanging in Philly for the day and get some cheesesteaks and look for an R2-D2 mail box then maybe come back to Jersey and check out 300 on IMAX.

It seems like a good plan.

I saw an R2D2 mailbox outside the Cavs game yesterday.

What is up with those?

And… I would love to go to this Page show.

Is this just an interview, or a short concert, or a mixture of both?

I can’t wait to hear what Page has to say. And I guess I’m sort of interested in the music.

What I saw on that clip off Page’s MySpace (I think that’s where it was from) didn’t get me too excited about the music, that’s all. I love Page just as much as anyone, but I’m just not sure what can come of a Page solo band. I just don’t expect this to be anywhere near as cool as Vida Blue, so I’m don’t have very high hopes.

On the other hand, I really want to see how much Page reveals about how he has been lately and what the hell he’s been doing for the last two years.

Phish was always much greater than the sum of its parts, and I think that’s especially true with Page.

I enjoyed all the tunes from moe.down.

Is he playing the same ones?

just called Page on the phone. Here’s what he had to say:

“Okay, good to hear from you Jawbone, Buster’s a tool, isn’t he? Sure do miss all the rest of you guys. I WILL be playing a free show in Philadelphia and afterwards i’m going to go into the crowd and talk personally with everybody there except Buster of course. It should be a lot of fun but if you want the real sauce you better be at Holiday Park in Ft. Lauderdale on May 21st. We’ll be doing and unadvertised free Phish reunion then, one time only and EVERYBODY’S INVITED!..except for Buster of course. Will can’t come either because of that nasty picture.”

Wow, sounds like a great time for everybody who’s NOT Buster or Will :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m 25 minutes away.

Count me in.

well, im about to leave in an hour or so. I’ll tell you guys how it goes.

enjoy, im here at work, gonna tune in and listen

I liked it, he played all new stuff, and it was sick. The lead guitarists was off the hook. I generally like the whole band, but thought the bass player was iffy.
